Its very sad to hear when someone as young as sam passes on. The post that Flyin posted about threads and people leaving cause of the way the site has become (See earlier insert by white Trash) shows was a type of person he was. He will be missed (even those like myself that have not met other than on this site)

My condolences also, it's so sad to see such a young rider pass on, I've just spent the last hour reading through his posts here, which reads like a journal, and reminds me of many similar moments that I have had over the last 14 years of riding, from buying my first bike, to fixing my first problem, even to my first wheelie, although unintentional.

His memory will live on here, his presence, albiet brief was most memorable.

I've actually known a few of you for a while through Sam being on this thread so frequently, though this is the first time I've posted here, needless to say, I wish I could have met you under different circumstances.

I would like to firstly express the most sincere and heartfelt thanks from those to whom you have sent your thoughts and condolences, to let you know that we are thinking of you also and this has been an enormous shock to a lot of people.

I have visited Sam's Parents at their house in tawa, and let them know of this thread, and will be taking a copy along with me as this is very precious for them.

Obviously, there are still a lot of details to be confirmed, however, I can say that there will be opportunities for people to Celebrate Sam's in a variety of ways over the coming week. Paul and Jane have asked that details be circulated privately, rather than in this forum, hence, it may be a good idea to co-ordinate a distribution list of private email addresses for correspondence.

Personally, I share many many many memories with Sam, he will be painfully missed, but always with a smile in his memory. I will be in attendance at a memorial ride in his honour when it is organised and look forward to meeting some of you there.

    Til then,
My thoughts are with you in your times of realisation and experience through this tragedy, thank you again for your messages, Jimbo especially, thank you, and to those others that have shared the road with Sam ... there's not really anything I can say .... thank you for being a part of his family, he loved you and spoke very highly of you, I'm sure he'll be glad you were there with him.

Can't add anything that hasn't already been written other than to express how sorry I am to hear this news.

Fuck me life is cruel sometimes. Of all the fuckwits on this planet - he above chooses to take one of the good ones!

I happened upon this thread when it was only 5 posts old - and thought nothing of it - and it wasn't until driving to work this morning and hearing the news that I put two and two together.

I think we have all been in close calls (most likely more than once if you ride like me) - and we shrug them off - however nothing is as absolutely numbing & upsetting as hearing/reading about a fellow biker passing....esp one as young as Flyin. My thoughts lie with his family and friends (and Jimbo) and I can only but imagine what we feel is a fraction of their grief.

Rest Easy Flyin in the knowledge whilst you didn't get to say goodbye - we will all meet again in the future and that you left a lot of people behind who love you dearly.

I dont normally post on KB. But after reading this thread of so many heartfelt responses to such a terrible tragedy I wanted to post my own tribute to Sam. My heart goes out to all Sam's family and freinds.....

Sam, sadly I only knew you for a short while. But I was fortunate to share your happy smiles. And honered to ride with you on your final miles.

    RIP

cross-post from another thread. I thought it might be better off under here...
We read and post of fellow bikers around NZ who have been unfortunate and while we read the posts, we pause and think about the loss, but we didn't know anything about them. This is different. Everyone on KB is well known, regardless of how many posts they've made and how they are seen in the community, they are still part of Kiwi Biker, which brings it real close to home. We're stretched out from the tip of the north island to the bottom of the south and everywhere inbetween, yet on the forum, we're all in the same place. It's this that brings the happy bits and the sad bits to your sofa, desk or chair.

I've not been able to concentrate much today, and I know I had joked a few times on threads with Sam, but I never personally met him. I'm still at a loss for words. This is the first 'loss' for me since joining the forum too.

    OMG....

It's taken me that long to get through this thread. What constructive comments can I add? None.

I've met him a couple times on rides, and admired the determination that he rode that 250 with... RIP buddy.

I went to school with sam and spoke to him during a brief passing by last week. Didnt know he had gotten himself a bike until jus recently where we mentioned going on a ride sometime. He used to drive around an old bright green DX corolla wagon for those that mite have seen him cruising the streets of wellington. Looks like sam made alot of friends on here and was a very keen biker for the short time that he was on 2 wheels.
    RIP Sam.
