Unless she reads it herself, I'l tell Elaine (Easyride?) to mention it to Sams family. Elaines a close family friend of Sams family.

And the memorial ride definitely sounds good. Maybe we could organise one in the next few weeks with a nice memorial sign or something from all KB members that we could leave there permanently. (with permission)

What terrible news. I met Flyin twice only and he was a really good fella to chat to. I sold him my wet weather trousers a few months back and then I rode with him at easter when the KBer's held the easter weekend in Wellington and enjoyed a good chat with him over a coffee.
I feel extremely bad because I thought a few of the guys were riding too fast and I've riden with some quick groups. Fast to the point that I decided to let these guys gun ahead while I took my own pace and caught up later.
What makes matters worse is that I'm riding a pretty fast 1000cc bike and these guys were on 250 fours.
You see, I've always had this approach to riding that the young guys will learn from their lessons, just as I did. But now it's like....Wait, This wasn't how it's supposed to happen!! The guy hasn't had his lessons to learn from yet!!!
Fellow KBer's, I feel like I've failed Flyin. Because in NZ we have this rediculous attitude that suggests your the man if you leave the rest in the dust. Well, I believe that to be so on a track only!
As a more mature rider I think it is important that we speak up when the younger fellas are pushing too hard. I only wish I had said something now!

To Flyin: Thank you for the time I enjoyed with you, peace be with you.
To his family and friends: My sincere condolences and apologies for failing to provide valuable advice when I had the opportunity.
To all fellow KBer's: Ride safe and please provide some advice to the young and less experienced riders.

If anybody could provide the funeral details, I would dearly like to attend and pay my respects, no problem whatsoever if the family want a private funeral.
Are the Wellington KB'ers planning anything in memory of Flyin?
I would like to suggest a group ride in memory of Flyin.

How about we leave him (profile etc) on the members list but have some token to indicate he has "passed on" and Rides the Sky, any thoughts?

Tomorrow's Dominion Post says he collided head-on with a car about 1km from Gladstone school.

    That makes me even sadder.

Does anyone feel like going out there sometime this week to leave flowers? Is this appropriate? Jimbo's idea is good, too.
If I smoked, I'd give up, just for him: remember how he had such a 'thing' about it..? He was such a principled young guy. Here's just one of the things he wrote:
