On the issue of sigs, I left mine as its non-offensive. However I changed my user title, for a while at least. Maybe we could all do that for a period of a week. Just an idea.

Yeah I thought of that. I'm not saying that we all should do it, not at all. Maybe some might even find it offensive (if so please let me know). But I felt the need to acknowledge his passing somehow and thought it fitting. I'm really at a loss for words over this, never knew the guy but for some reason I feel cut up about it. I always feel saddened when I read of a death, but because of this forum this time it cuts a bit deeper.

I can't change mine yet. Not sure if I would or not, not out of disrepect, but I don't want to be 'shallow' because I didn't really know him all that well, altho I am the same as everyone else around here.

We read and post of fellow bikers who have been unfortunate and while we read the posts, we pause and think about the loss, but we didn't know anything about them. This is different. Everyone on KB is well known, regardless of how many posts and how they are seen, they are still part of KB, which brings it real close to home. We're stretched out from the tip of the north Island to the bottom of the south and everywhere inbetween, yet on the forum, we're all in the same place. It's this that brings the happy bits and the sad bits to your sofa, desk or chair.

I've not been able to concentrate much, and I know I had joked a few times on threads with Sam, but I never personally met him. I'm still at a loss for words. This is the first 'loss' for me since joining the forum too.

    I couldn't agree more.

I have just come back to biking after many years away. I have yet to take part in organised rides, I am new to this forum, I didn't know Sam at all.

But in the short time I have been involved here, the camaraderie is very evident, and it is a priviledge to post alongside others who share my passion for riding and bikes.

As I said, I didn't know Sam, but the intense feeling of loss being expressed in this forum is deeply moving, and I share your pain.

I don't think its shallow at all, or maybe I'm missing the point. As far as I'm concerned we are all one family here. Sometimes we get on, sometimes we don't. Sometimes we socialise together, sometimes we can't be bothered. Just like a family. And now one of us is gone forever, he is a part of this family that will be missed. I never spoke directly to Sam, nor rode with him. But I still feel the loss, and will reflect this feeling.

I had thought of taking my sig off. But then the sig is me. It tells something about myself. I left it on. On this board our sigs say who we are good bad or indifferent. That's nothing to be ashamed of. I think Flyin' would understand.

Fair point- but some people's sigs were more open to misinterpretation in the context of the silent thread. (References to death/injury/etc) I must apologise to anyone I PM'd inappropriately when I was doing that, I probably went a bit overboard, really. Just worried about any little thing that could add to the hurt if read. Y'know.
Yours is really quite innofensive, however you read it.

Edit:And yeah, I think he would understand, too. I'm sure he liked that we are such a mix of characters.
