Given the response from his family lets do a convoy following the hearse.

For those who wish to ride out to Sam's funeral on Friday, could I suggest a rendezvous (meet up) at the Caltex station on the Old Hutt Road (just past Placemakers) at 10:30am and we can ride out from there?

Another thing, would it be more fitting if silencers were fitted or your non race cans ?

So your not 'overdoing it' I would have loved to do it but I had to be a twat and crash

Most Bike Clubs do this for their club members. It does pay to see what the family would like, but as Sam's family has approved this then it would be a shame not to support this. Wish I could make this but Whangarei to Welly is too far. I know that the Welly KBers that have meet him will try to be there, "Roxanne" & I will just have to follow in spirit. My heart and soul ride with you Sam, and your family.

I'm taking the rest of Friday as annual leave. May I suggest we take the funeral and what may follow as it happens on the day. But perhaps we could adjourn afterwards to a suitable place of purveyance that has lots of parking for bikes, and have a couple of "quiets" in Sam's honour? Nothing stupid. I'm sure Sam doesn't want any of us to join him for a long long time...

If you're coming via WMC, I'm sure somebody there can give you directions, either to the meet up at Caltex Old Hutt Road (Kaiwharawhara) at 10:30am or to the Catholic church in Tawa.

Frosty, I live 500m from WMC so will ride out there with you. Dont know if WT or any other welly cbd'ers are heading out, but depart WMC 10am-ish? Keep me posted if you need a lift from the airport, I may just take the whole day off if required.

I'm trying to free up time at work to attend as well.
There is little parking available at the best of times around that Church. So please, as a courtesy to the family and close friends I suggest those on bikes park a discrete distance back leaving any parking spaces for more deserving folks. I'll pay attention tomorrow morning to see if there is a suitable spot nearby for all of us to congregate. We don't want any of Sam's family & friends feeling that we are intruding or 'taking over' the proceedings.
On a seperate note I now realise there are at least 5 or 6 KBers in Tawa and we should get together soon - I will pm those I have identified. Certainly wish I had made contact with Sam earlier.

Don't think I'll make it for a ride, the bike still isn't in rideable shape

And it might make people feel worse seeing my bike bet up and me being fine

I live and work in Tawa, and I'll be working on Friday so unable to attend, but for parking theres a quite a bit of parking available on the main road slightly south of the church between my work (mexted motors) and the roundabout that the church is on.
