I'll be there on Fri and Sun.
Flyin's m8 - thanks for the advice for the "proceedings," and for sharing some real cool stuff with us. We're all thinking of you and his family at the mo.
Attend the funeral on our bikes (having checked with family 1st).
Ride to the accident site, on the weekend, and place flowers.
Collect a donation and give it to the family to what they want with.
Send flowers to the family (note: they will be sent a lot of flowers).
Put a notice in the Dom Post on behalf of Kiwi Biker.
I'll be there on Fri and Sun.

Where to start
This was only my second ride out with the kbers and I had only just met Sam briefly on the Friday night where I work at kittys, then again that morning. He took the time to talk to me and we had a bit of a chat at the flying fish in Martinborough. I am not the best with words but wanted to send my thoughts and prayers to his family and friends and to say that I want to do all I can to assist on Friday.
I will be taking the day off.
I have a pillion seat if someone needs it.
I live in Papakowhai which is not too far from Tawa, so if anyone is coming from a distance I have a spare double bed, a good size couch and can get hold of an air bed.
There is a double garage with just my bike in so there is room for more and can sort out space for a couple of cars as well if needed.
Of course if there is alot of you that need to take up this offer I am sure we can sort something out. There is a Motel behind me if really needed.
Just let me know how I can help and I will do all I can.
This goes for The Sunday ride as well.
Take care Kbers
Gary
ps my new signature is for all of you. I just wish I had said it to Sam

I would love to be at both the funeral and the ride on Sunday, but already have committments for this weekend, including Friday. Will be thinking of Sam and all of you as his life is celebrated on Friday, and remembered on Sunday.
God bless.
Paul
Thank you Flyin's m8 for those amazing words. Try and read that with a dry eye. Its sounds like you have a ride arranged but if not let me know by private message I can give you a ride. I also live in Tawa and prompted by Sam's death I have contacted about 6 other locals on Kiwibiker for a get together next Wednesday 11th 7pm at the Round-about pub, so please feel free for you and any of Sam's mates to join us.Originally Posted by flyin's m8

I'll put the notice in on Friday.
We're going to go through the condolence post and pick out some apt phrases and include them. If I get a chance I'll generate a few and post them so people can vote, although I think I'll have to have the notice in on Thrusday morning at the latest.
Thanks CSL
My goal in life is to be as good a person as my dog already thinks I am.
I think I would be safe to say on behalf of the northern riders we are of course shocked and saddened by this tragedy, for me personally it has certainly caused some sad moments while reading through the threads.
I would have liked to come down and pay my respects to Sam and his family but I cannot get the time of work therefore I wont be able to attend.
I have been thinking hard of what I/we can do to pay respect to Sam and his family, I think for me the best thing I can do is tie a black ribbon on my arm and ride my bike on friday and think about safety on the road and the dangers of being there.
If any northern riders read this and have some ideas about what we can do , please post them so we may also unite in showing our respect for Sam and his family.
Ive run out of fucks to give
Flyins m8 -Your sear is reserved -Not sure what the bike will be yet but you will have a bike to travel on.
Black ribbon armband --fantastic idea.
No helmets--nope I wont be doing that - It goes against everything I believe re motorbike safety but lets have no tinted visors
I think perhaps in the cemetry grounds a brief pause to remove helmets might be appropriate.
Has anyone else done a convoy before??
The ones I have done have been done in pairs--two bikes side by side a space then two more bikes side by side et al.
My thinking re donations is to make a single donation to the family to contribute to funeral costs. perhaps to have a little bike on his headstone/memorial.
suggestion only of course
To see a life newly created. To watch it grow and prosper. Isn't that the greatest gift a human being can be given?
Quazi--I was wondering about a memorial ride out. Not a thrash or a silly ride. A quiet ride.

Had a looksee this morning. For those not sure you drive in to Tawa from m/way heading up the main road to the third round-about. Our Lady of Fatima Church is on this corner ( left corner), Library to the right and also on left is a red brick Presbyterian Church. Both churches have reasonable off street car park so my first suggestion is we park in the Pres. church car park IF it is empty and that church has nothing on at that time. Failing that turn right and park at rear of Library which adjoins the supermarket car park- heaps of space and only a minute walk to the Church.
All depends on how many of us. I like Frosty's ideal that we ride in pairs, clear visors if you have em, no revving, lights on (who has a choice these days)
and pull to side of road as we enter cemetary to remove helmets. Possibly easier to just leave them on the ground at the side of path and one of us stay to watch over them. edit- I will do this.
Happiness is a means of travel, not a destination
Thanks Mark.
Will see you Friday morning.

Guys and gals a point raised by another member.
Can we be 100% certain that the family are happy for ANY or all of this to happen.
The very last thing anybody wants to do is to do anything offensive to the family.
We have heard from John his brother but is there any way to discretely check its ok with mum and dad etc??

Biker guard of honour as the funeral party leave the church perhaps?
Two rows each side, carry your helmets to the front, heads bowed.
Speed doesn't kill people.
Stupidity kills people.
If work allows I will attend,
and if anyone has a spare bike plate they can lend me I'll join in the ride.
I know a lot of Tawa College will be there, its really sad to loose someone who has so much left ahead of them in their life...
Riding without helmets? Comon guys I can be an idiot on a bike but we dont want to risk loosing someone else to the roads.
