Would be good if you could confirm it.

The bearing behind the clutch basket is a well-known and oft-recommended $100 preventative fix (the number one thing to look at for these bikes). Of course there are nay-sayers who say leave it, despite KTM releasing a fix and changing production.

Not to do the fix surely? I mean that it would cost a lot of hours labour to put in the $100 preventative part?

Yep I'm pretty sure it's that bearing, big write ups about it on advrider link that you pointed me to when I brought it but I thought it would have been done when the engine got rebuilt last year or over the previous years since birth, in saying that I wasn't concerned about the engine as it had been rebuilt, I was replacing wheel/shock/swingarm bearings, chains and sprockets etc.
I said to the guy I dropped it off to that I've got a DR750 thats done over 100,000k and its never been touched, he said yes jap bikes will go forever but we like the power and rawness of our Austrian bike dont we, I said yes, he said we must pay for performance, I had to agree.

About that in parts, maybe several hours labour for a competent home potterer following a typical advrider how-to. The hardest thing is finding or making a suitable bearing puller. Pull the clutch cover, pull the clutch, pull the bearing, reassemble. Sure beats the alternative.

I'm really surprised it wasn't done, too.

Correction: they used to go forever. Try telling that to a CRF owner with valve grief, as an extreme example. The same thing applies to all modern bikes, although not so dramatically. Unfortunately bikes are being made more to a price these days than ever before. Engineering margins are becoming smaller, they are tending to become disposable.

I'm now ready for the Naki ride, just have to fit a snorkel for the Whanga RD and bolt a winch on
