thanks every one for arranging the rides, i know it takes a lot to get a ride arranged.

we seam to have new adv chaps and ladys getting in to the sport..
    which is great to see.

A special thanks to Kiwi Biker, with out them none of this would have happened....

2009 was about turning the R65 into a streettracker and refining it into one of the best gravel road bikes I've ever ridden.Still plenty to do - but that is the whole point of the bike,I hope it's going to be a work in progress for a long time.

best buy 1989 r100 gs,at times its sublime, glassy smooth, torquey, comfortable ,rarely have to worry about planning fuel stops or taking detours, amazingly stable yet flickable, despite poked suspension, very well balanced, easy to ride at low speeds.
worst buy 1989 r 100gs,rear suspension is poked, front aint much better, front brake is hopless,in the wind the noise and buffeting is annoying, parts available but are expensive.

    Bestest and worstest.

Pretty good year tho didn't do nearly enough riding.

Best was a toss up between the kikawa laid back and the NIIS ride, both different but both bloody brilliant.

Worst moment is a toss up between the kikawa laid back two trees incident and the Big River incident.

Best buys . IMS tank and Ricor interiormunters.

Oh and if you are ever at lake Rotoroa, stay away from this goose thingy as it is cursed. Those bikes are mine and Andymacs and neither of them look the same anymore and were suspiciously the only two bikes to end up on trailers on the niis ride.
Coincidence you say?? I think not. You have been warned.

    STAY AWAY FROM THE GOOSE.

Doing the Dusty Butt 500 for the first time on the 990 and not crashing, which was a strange thing for me.
Getting a XR650R a few weeks ago and really learning how to crash. It crashes much better than the 990 ie hit a tree on the Maungatapu track last week bent the front fender right up under the triple clamp. 1.bike picks up nice and easy not so the 990. 2. pulled the fender out and pushed back into shape. Damage nil. Conclusions lighter bike crashes better. Down side hot starts/no button start and can flood on steep downhills sometimes.
    I can smell you....

That would rate as one of the best for me, certainly probably the biggest adventure even though it wasn't the longest or anything.
