Totally. I think the traditional retort operation "net-dance" has been abandoned.
Dean, if you don't care for what other KBers think, why don't you just shut the fuck up? I think you do care, hence the thread. If you do, why the fuck do you get so offended when someone gives you (constructive) criticism? It's like people have to design a disclaimer for any post that isn't completely monotone, just so that you will understand the general idea behind the post

Many of us have been there. Take something, modify and make it ours. We will then sit for hours drinking beer and admiring how clever we are. 10 years later when we have actually done something that blows ppl away we laugh at where we started. But we all start somewhere.

My advise: Do some planning, use a pen and paper and draw up what you want it to look like. (I tend to take a pic of her and then transfer it to a white sheet of paper so I can change things until I like what I see).

Re motor mod's. Read up re more umph. There are many things that can be done. Sadly it will become questionable if it is worth to do them to a Chinese GN (They are crap to starters, the Jap ones are better but older). If you want to keep the 250 and not swap to a 400 the simple things are stroking, porting, carb, cam and exhaust. You should be able to squeese out 10 - 15 more HP for approx $1k. I did some work on a few Suzuki NZ250's and we got them humming at 180k/h. If you can find one of those motors you should be able to squeeze them in to the GN as they are very similar single cylinder oines, but with oil cooling added.

Good Luck and don't give up!

May the bridges I burn light the way.

If you can bring up an old Trade me auction, # 225655671, it shows a GN modified, It is an amazing 'cafe racer' . I kept the listings page so I could go back and have another look.
