    Thumbs up Thanks Cops!!!

    Man,

Coming home from work tonight at midnight, going up carrington road past the unitech, the bike was running a bit rough so decided to open her up a little, only to 8000 revs and then break back down, and do it again, only took it up to about 70-80k -

did this 2 times, and then i see red and blues behind me which came outa no where.

I pull into side street and pull over. Meeting goes like this -

    Shade : "Hey fellas"
Cop : "Hey, how fast do you think you were going there? We dont have a radar, so we wont ticket you, but just outa curiousity"
Shade : "About 70k - speedo seems to read low, so maybe 80k, then slowd back down, did it a couple of times as the bikes running rough"
Cop2 : "ahahah yeh whatever, we were doing 120+ to catch you"
(I was thinking huh? Catch me? From where? i didnt do it for long, heh)

I was like, nah i dont think so, didnt take it that high up.

They were cool as about it, pretty good guys and said no worries have a good night. I think ive used up all my Good Karma points!! Thanks police, i would have gladly accepted a 70-80k ticket, and got off. I owe you one!

Oh, they said when i pulled into the side street they thought i was going to do a runner, lol.

I think the them song from the Mitsi ad applies to you
To every man upon this earth
    Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
    Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods

I got pulled in the car once and got let off. I gassed it a little around a corner/lights on purpose to see if the new tyres were sticky in the wet (they were..) and then carried on at normal pace, about 55-60 (honest).. When the other lights went green, a cop floored it, then I saw the lights. I pulled over calmly, bearing in mind the car hacked around the corner, and she came screaming over. This point, I dropped my bowels.. She asked what happened at the lights, so I showed her my fat feet, and the pedals of the car, and said my foot got stuck under the brake pedal which kept the gas on. "fine" she said, but then said she had to do 100kph to catch me! so? If you were doing the same speed as me, you wouldn't have caught me. You HAVE to go faster, laws of physics. So why is that important to us, how fast they speed, in order to catch someone going a few over?

I'm not cop bashing here, by any means, just stressing the point that cops have to go faster in order to catch up. So why tell us? It's not reflection on our speed...??

I just got a slap on the wrists, which I so rightly deserved (bad lama), and off I went..

Its only relevant if they have pursued you at that pace for a period of time and have used a certified speedo to assess your speed. The fact that they have to do 130+ in order to catch up to someone that was doing 120 is pretty ironic but is simply necessary in order to apprehend the alleged speeder.

Yeah, it's a piss-poor attempt at logic (or perhaps a cunning attempt at throwing you off and making you say something you shouldn't ). Hell, even if you weren't speeding, i.e. doing 50 in a 50 zone, of course the chasing vehicle would have to go faster to catch up! Duh. Some people need to go back to basic (primary school) physics classes.

    Nice?

I think the only reason they didnt give you a ticket is because they couldnt prove your speed mate, i bet if they had clocked you at 70 on a radar you would be telling a different story.

120kph in a car in town! sheesh talk about dangerous, who was the real danger to the public here? You or the cops?

You should have given them a ticket!

    Count yourself lucky son.

Most of the police i've dealt with have been pretty sweet, as long as I'm polite and show respect.

I'd never admit to committing an offence though, even if I thought the officer wasn't about about to give me a ticket.

Fact of the matter is - I WAS speeding, and as i said, i didnt mind taking a 70-80k ticket for it. Didnt bother me owning up.

And yeah, i woulda got done if they had a radar, im sure, luckily they didnt, which was good news for me!!

Moral of the story, hope like hell the cop doesnt have a radar!!

I too think its only fair if your speeding to get a ticket, i think getting a ticket for 108kph is a bit over the top but hey.

I would own up also, but be rather vague about the speed, 99% of bike speedos read high so no point saying you were doing 120 when u were only touching on 110.
