    Merry BADD Xmas '09

Firstly - Gday Mods, throw where you want, as ya do

I'd like to think anyone that knows the B.A.D.D story is convinced that drinking and driving does kill, and its senselessness is not random and very preventable.

    By now Im sure I preach to the converted here when I say;
Dont passenger with anyone who has been drinking and play your part to reduce alcohol related fatalities.

Or as BADD, BG Racing and NZSRA say: I'd Rather Passenger a Sidecar - Than a Drunk Driver!

    1. Plan your night out and your way home - while sober.

    2. Take keys off the Drunken Monkeys

    3. Call 111 or *555 if following erratic and dangerous driving!

    4. Be responsible hosts, offer food, water and beds (Or floors).

    5. Offer to sober drive, taking turns over the Xmas Holidays in your group, so everyone has a fair go.

AND DONT FORGET..the morning after hangover, will mean you could still be over the limit, dulling and slowing your reaction times.

Also understand that alcohol manifests itself in the body as ethanol, and can cause you to fall asleep without warning.

Alcohol will stay in your system for days.

Understand your limit..your variables, and your bodies capabilties.

    A 330ml can is 1.3 standard drinks
90mls of wine is 1 standard drink

Your body expells alcohol at the rate of ONE standard drink per hour, based on a healthy liver ONLY.

We can all do something to prevent drink driving.

Attached is a sample of the BADD parent/young driver contract.
If you open the attachment, click your mouse on it to enlarge, then you can print it! (you may have to do this 2x)

Sadly - there have been so many fatals involving alcohol with young inexperienced drivers in the last few months.

Spend a few minutes to talk to your kids, discuss sober planning, and safe transport options, offer to pick them up, no matter where or when. Make sure they don't jump into cars with friends that have been drinking!

Please Don't drink and Drive - It's really not worth the Mourning after.

On Boxing Day, Crossroads invite those who have lost family/friends to impaired driving - to wear a White Rose, the colour of roadside crosses, the colour of innocence.

AND Don't forget the BADD Team has an awareness Food Run, departing New Plymouth, Napier and Tauranga on the 27th December to the destination - the 2nd BADD Endurance Race in Association with NZSRA's Taupo Road Race Spectacular - the final round in the International Tri-Series, sponsored by Suzuki NZ on the same day.

Bring 3 non perishable food donations, and you get:
FREE ENTRY (Unfortunately if you are unable to donate there is a $10 entry fee - under 15 years free!)
FREE CAMPING - Gate 7 - Spa Road, Taupo.
    FREE SECURE ONSITE PARKING

Have a Safe and Merry Xmas.
