When in Westport I would recconmend the ride up the zig zag to the Denniston Incline - an awesome bit of seal with heaps of sweet corners. From there take the gravel road up Mt Rochfort, to see stunning views of that part of the Coast.

get there for sundown on a fine evening and it's stunning
and if we get there early..... why not do some of the western end of the Mackley

Hmmmm sounds like your coming.....show us around,,,,not dark till 9pm...

im about to book cabins at Mokihinui motor camp.. its about 45km up coast from westport...

saturday 23rd jan.

ride the rainbow road, porika track,braeburn, and possably the maruia saddle track,subject to time, as im heading for the west coast, booking cabin at Mokihinui camp ground north of west port, i wish to travel up the west coast to Kohaihai bluff as far as i can, return back to camp on saturday evening...

sunday 24 jan
ride south down the west coast to greymouth..from here... ride arthurs pass. and lees pass...
and stay back at hanmer springs again.

monday 25th.
return to, hiway 70, ride the east coast and then ride the port underwood road and catch the 2pm ferry home..

thats the plan..

Looks like a great ride. We did pretty much the same this time last year. Could add in Denniston for a look. With some of the track to Lyall if you need an adrenalin rush? (need company though as is pretty out there.)

Catlins.... south eastern corner of the South Island, Crown range..... just out of Queenstown/Cromwell/ Wanaka, somewhere
Can't do every thing in one trip and it means you have to come back, provided we let you

Ferry tickets booked for me this morning!!!

Sure hope we get some sleep on that night crossing bro!

The route looks good fun and taking in plenty of new roads & terrain we didn't see on the SI Invasion ride in May; nice planning Joe!

Will look forward to catching up with Mr & Mrs Jatz and whoever else joins us along the way!
