    Pacific Coast Highway

Just wondering why no one seems to mention the road from Thames to Clevedon. I rode it a few days ago and was quite impressed with it.I did travel it early in the day leaving Thames at 6am so there was next to no Traffic. The only pain in the arse I came across was lycra clad cyclists everywhere as i got closer to the Auckland end. So just wondered if ther is some reason all Auckland riders seem to bypass it and head straight for Coro.

Thames to Clevedon goes through Kawa kawa bay/Kaiaua anyway, which people are always mentioning.
The reason no one mentions Thames is because if you're down that far you're probably going for Coro anyway

Usually called the Kaiaua Loop on here,as Auckland riders can make a loop down to Kaiaua and back up Happy Valley to Hunua. It was much better when the whole loop was gravel - there were no cars, trucks, motorcycles or cyclists to stuff up your ride.

Clay slips are enough to keep you entertained in winter, no camper vans or bikes either
