Broken spokes

broken couple of spokes on my back wheel rest are seized so cant crank them up.

So, any one know where to get a good price on spokes??

Spokes aren't that easy to come by.....
The dealer would be your first stop....all wheels are different, and therefor so are the spokes....
Image Motorcycles in New Plymouth got me spokes for my Aprilia for a reasonable price when nobody else could get me any........

I think Scott at Mr Motorcycles would be the first person i would call, or John at JTR Motocross also laces wheels. PM me if you need Johns number.
Give them heaps of CRC in the meantime to try and free them up.

as ive said in a thread not long ago, lacing up spokes isnt as difficult as people make out. and if you do them 1 or 2 at a time it makes it even easier, personally when i did mine i took too all the old ones at once with the angle grinder then lay all the new ones in. took an hour or so.

yea i did the same thing when i bent my rear wheel, the first spoke i tried to take out was siezed, i didnt bother trying the rest of them, i just cut the lot, i got john yates at wheel and frame in cambridge to lace it up for me

Im guna try lace em up my self cant afford to pay some one on my $10p/h apprentice wage... so how much do set usualy go for and will i need to get my rim re rolled or is it easy enough to straighten them up in a vice with a little persuation????
BTW way they still seized after a week in crc!!

Isnt the minimun wage about $12 now? I think you should check with the apprenticeship board.

Why cant you just buy a couple of spokes and put them in, or is the wheel not running true anymore?

yea apprentices can get paid less than minimum wage. its bullshit but true.

depending on how bent it is, you can straighten a rim a lot just by tightening the relevant spokes a bit more to pull it into true

Hi mate. The seized spokes can all be heated up one by one(just heat the nut till smoke comes out of thread) let it cool a bit and it should spin.(you can also spray the thing with crc to better your chances just after it cools)
I did every spoke on the rear of my kdx like this and trued it up by putting it on an axle in the vise and tightening in sequence so they re all tight and the wheel is straight.
When you have the nut off - run a M3/M4(whichever thread yours are) tap through the nut and wire brush the end of the threaded spoke and coat the thread with coppaslip.New spokes can be bought individually from your nearest Kwaka dealer.(I think I was paying around 10 bucks/spoke.
Just give it a go mate you will be surprised at how it all comes together.PS - don't attempt to turn spoke nut till it has cooled down a bit as turning it hot can cause the thread to pick up(galling)

sounds like a goer mate thanks will give it a go before i spend a fort nights pay on spokes and a rim....
