The next ART day is on 6th of March (Saturday). The experience and knowledge about your bike you obtain is invaluable. Art is now also recognized by Star Insurance as a genuine advanced rider training and once you complete it, and obtain your certificate you are able to bring your insurance premiums down if you are on star insurance. The instructors are all current or ex racers and motorcycle instructors so the advice they give you, you can easily transfer on to the road regarding how your bike behaves. There is also free suspension "tweak and set up" between sessions to make your bike behave the best and so you get as much out of your suspension as possible for your riding. A friend who we were riding with on the last ART day was amazed at the difference a few tweaks here and there made to the stability of his motorcycleRegardless what motorcycle you ride, it is great fun. You don't have to be on a 1000cc sports bike either. We see plenty of ninja/gpx 250s, scorpios, 250 cruisers, even adventure bike riders all having fun and coming out with a grin on their face. Really wicked watching the fast boys in the fast group going round while you having your brake too

Thread for 6th march updates is here - http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...kohe-6th-March
Places are filling quick, due to popularity, so if you are keen, better hand your form in
p.s. I am told that the SMC Prezzohdent can possibly suss out a bit of discount for SMC members seeing that ART is recognised training day and all that....
be good ya'll![]()
i've seen the result of some of these suspension tweaks too.. forks set with different settings. People fiddling with shit they have no idea about.
How many of the instructors/trainers are real life instructors..and how many of the racers have silverware on there mantle piece? im betting none of them have won a nationals...??!
give me $100 and i'll give you some advice too

:slap:
whats the SMC?
the tweaks are done by the guys from cycletreads, and I can think of atleast one intructor who has some racing pedigree - of course it's not meant to be a racing school
the AUSMC is the "auckland university scooter and motorcycle club" (or the student motorcycle club)
we even have our own subforums![]()
I’ll attempt to clear a few things up for you Mr boomer;
‘Suspension Tweaks’ All suspension advice and assistance in adjustment is carried out by competent personnel with a clear understanding of what each suspension adjustment is likley to produce in terms of handling characteristics and ‘feel’ for the rider. The aims of this advise/help is to avoid the very scenario you so eloquently describe. Please be assured these people have a very good “idea about” what they are doing.
‘Instructors and silverware’ We have a large core of very experienced and qualified motor cycle instructors. Some hold recognised and certified qualifications, some are National Champions, some (current) International racers inc TT IOM and Ex factory (Honda) backed riders plus (past and current) club and national riders. I could list the names here but to save your embarrassment and maintain their discretion I won’t. I think you need to ask yourself why major players in the motorcycle industry and Insurance industry would want to be involved with us if what you claim to be true! However AMCC is in the very latter stages of publishing a new web site and the intention is to have an area dedicated to ART and we may well include a résumé of all our instructors together with a wealth of other information on what we offer.
I would be interested to hear what you could offer for your request for $100, all our instructors provide their time, bikes and knowledge for free………….yes free Mr boomer.
The entry fee is to cover the cost of circuit hire, medical staff, marshals, food and admin costs etc.
By all means Mr boomer I invite you along to any of our training days as a spectator/observer and encourage you to seek any one or all of us out and provide us the opportunity to discuss your beliefs. You may wish to book onto a course yourself and see what if anything we could teach you.
Many many riders get an enormous amount of benefit from attending AMCC ART events. The skills and techniques learnt in the safe environment of the circuit can be put into practise on our roads (somewhat slower admittedly). The aim is to make you more aware, more confident, more knowledgeable, and better prepared for what riding a motorcycle has to offer.
