Would a lates 80's bike - tt600 make it around there? Was there any Fran?
Cheers for the experience of the Top of the South on Vid, you had good weather....Would have been murder in the rain mate, especially that climb...
A late 70's bike would have been sweet.
    You just needed good knobblies.

There was a TT350 racing. The 3rd bike up the hill after the guy walks up and before Javahead's stuck shot.

The 640 did quite well! I am no worse for wear than I'd be racing the 200, as I was putting the same effort in. You can get the 640 around the track as well as the 200, but for the same effort you aren't going as fast... mostly! On the more open gravel it was peaking at 6500-7000rpm in top which is about 140km/h. But definitely slower in the tricky stuff as it takes a lot more effort to control it; unlike the 200 once it gets away from you there's no coming back, it's bail off time. I do have a nice tennis ball sized bruise on my bicep from a rock hurled by another bike.

My theory on the wide front rim being an issue was confirmed. The OEM 2.15" smashes all the side knobs off the tyre in short order if the bike is used with any modicum of aggression. I ran the 1.6" off the EXC for the first time, for nearly 4 hours and not gently either, and all the knobs are still in place

The rain would've made Hurricane Hill much more difficult, but the other climbs up/down were quite damp already. Heck even some of the flat sections were very greasy. A new, grippier rear tyre would have helped; I used a worn all-rounder, a Pirelli Scorpion MX eXTra. The front S12 was hanging on very very well.

I got stuck on a slight but greasy hill early on, Fran got the photo of me coming back down. The second and third laps I got stuck on the hill Andrew did. Got going again on the 2nd or 3rd try, but man it's frustrating. Especially having to kick the bike with the front brake not able to hold the bike on the hill. Not having the jetting sorted after uncorking it on Friday night meant it was very stall-prone so I was stopped & kicking in all sorts of unexpected places.

Awesome, awesome fun! It's a step above pootling about on an adventure ride.
    Cheers,
    Colin

A lot more work door this type of vid.

    Place the camera.
    Take jacket off.
    Ride back.
    Ride past the camera.
    Ride back.
    Pick up camera and jacket.
    Ride to the next one...

I think the bloopers worked too

Wish the mic picked up more of the talking...

That was realy really excellent Nordie. Grey & black is very sombre attire for spring tho.
I loved the outtakes- especially the hobbit skipping down the hill.

Were the cones by the mudhole? Oh and you missed the rock in the first ford
