So no more demerit points and we can pay to speed? That would be cool. The poor people would have to obey the posted limits or have their car reposessed where the wealthy could just get a Direct Debit linked to the Police account and their number plate. They wouldn't even need to stop for each ping if they were paid up to date.
In space, no one can smell your fart.

selling weed is a job, you get income (non-taxable), community service and you'd make contacts for your work. what an awesome life. Yeah, quit your job.

    $50......that's a fair whack a week.
What you get from that, the satisfaction of knowing you're not a loser but a worthwhile member of society. Well done.

I suppose that we'll be seeing ACC increases based on weight, significant ACC increases on booze and fags, people paying police costs when arrested regardless of guilt, pedestrians charged per km for pavement wear and tear etc etc etc

    what a fucking joke!!

    It wouldn't work in NZ.
With the amount of "Family Trusts" about the place, there are a lot of people who are "earning nothing" each year.

Welcome to NZ when the FPP (First Past the Post) voting system was in place. It was either Labour or National... Both as bad as each other with reactionary policies.

Ummm some of you seem prematurely agitated. There was a recent news item about a Ferarri driver in Switzerland(?) who was fined
a huge amount because he was wealthy, and because that's the local rules.

This is nothing to do with Labour, National, the Greens, or even Winson Peters. Unless you're heading to Europe it need not bother you much either.

Of course there's always the chance that one of our more flakey MPs might feel the idea has merit. That's extremely unlikely though, because they get more money than most and they aren't in the habit of passing laws that prejudice their own interests...

Well, pritch, you beat me to it. I was about to point out that the law exists in some Scandanavian countries. I think your point about politicians' own interests is extremely salient. They are definitely well above the average NZ wage.
