What is with this surge of attacks on old people and animals?

Apologies for lumping the elderly and animals together, but has anyone else noticed a very disturbing trend to these two sectors of society suddenly coming to the fore as victims of crime?

The number of incidents on the news recently where elderly folk have been attacked, and left badly beaten (physically and or emotionally) or dead has horrified me. Now, I don't for one minute condone these things happening to younger, stronger members of society but for goodness sake! How much of "da man" do you think you are being when you do this to a frail person who can't fight you off?

And as for the rise of sickening animal attacks......

What the hell type of society are we becoming?
I lahk to moove eet moove eet...

    Multi cultural.
It's only when you take the piss out of a partially shaved wookie with an overactive 'me' gene and stapled on piss flaps that it becomes a problem.

brings to mind the saying an eye for an eye !
todays do gooders are ruining society !
the criminal has more rights than the victim !

Beat them to the same severity !
deprive them of water or food as they do !

Tear thier fucking throats out !
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

We are breeding a culture of scum where no one knows or gives a shit what Personal Responsibility and/or common sense is cause someone else will pick up the pieces for them. Where kids are just a money making scheme that are tossed to the side as soon as they can move. The Govt have introduced NCEA so no one has to push themselves any more but can still be a "winner" and if you don't want to work then you don't have too cause we'll pay for your laziness. No one gives two shits about anyone else anymore and there are a group of individuals (of all cultures and gender) that thinks that they are hard done by and that it's there God given right to inflict harm on others or an animal cause "that's what happened to them".

... One afternoon while doing some work in the garden I noticed my dog dragging something under the fence. Upon inspection, to my dismay, I realized it was the next door neighbors' daughter's rabbit. For years I had watch her come home from school and head straight out to its cage, free it and play with it in the garden. I knew today would be no different and fearing for our dog, I had to think fast.
The rabbit was quite dirty, as if it had put up quite a struggle, so I washed it off with the hose, combed it with the Dog brush and blew it dry with the leaf blower. Upon finishing its grooming I jumped the fence and replaced back in its cage hoping its death would be written off as "natural causes".
Within the hour the neighbor's car pulled in and out popped the little girl, and as usual she headed straight for the cage. Only this time she stopped about six feet away and screamed "DDDDDAAAADDDDDDDYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Her father, panic stricken, stood looking at the cage. Being the good neighbour that I am I rushed to fence and asked if there was anything I could do.
Her father less than calmly blurted, "What kind of sick individual would dig up a little girl's dead rabbit and put it back in it's cage?"
"I am a licenced motorcycle instructor, I agree with dangerousbastard, no point in repeating what he said."
"read what Steve says. He's right."
"What Steve said pretty much summed it up."
"I did axactly as you said and it worked...!!"
    "Wow, Great advise there DB."

Um, not trying to troll here, but...
Just because there are more reports in the news absolutely does NOT mean that there are more attacks occuring. Does anyone remember a few years ago, when there was a whole series of dog attacks on young children, and everyone was crying to have some breeds banned, stronger dog control laws, etc? Turned out that in fact the number of dog attacks over those few months were significantly LESS than over the same period in the previous year. But, someone made one into a news story, suddenly someone hears of another and does a folowup story, and you get public paranoia despite the fact that attacks were decreasing.
Not saying that the number of incidents haven't necessarily gone up. But don't base your claims on the number of media reportings, please.
