Small correction for those interested - the bike in the picture is not actually the one Shayne won the World Championship on, that was the # 9 bike which he still has. The bike in the pic was the following season, hence the #1 plate. As far as I know it still belongs to his old sponsor and friend Jos Dolphijn who has it on display in his shop in Belgium. Jos has quite a few ex-World Championship bikes and factory bikes along with some rare vintage MX bikes on display.
There's a number of KTM's running around that have ex-Shayne King bits on them or ex practice bikes etc., which Shayne and his mechanic Jimmy (Glenn Macartney) brought back to NZ, they also brought back a heap of redundant parts like forks etc., hence the claims from some that they have his World Championship forks and so on (which in a sense they do....just not off the actual bike).
Nice find though Danger, not a lot of pics of those old MX bikes around on the net.

I'll get some pics of the real thing and post them up for you.

Thats correct. I think perhaps the original had an Ohlins rear end? Even some of the production models had an Ohlins rear end and the first PDS shock was made by Ohlins. Still thought it would be of interest and its funny how many here didn't know he was on KTM, it wasn't that long ago really.

Twice the displacement, twice the cost and a decibel problem, I'll pass on the inside brraaaap!!!

Also saw a guy at a riverhead ride on one of those old 360sx's, he was getting along great, the bike had that good aggresive 2stroke noise that exc's don't, looked like a fun bike to ride.

Talking about 360's I used to have a Yami DT360 back in the 70's. Now that was a beast. had the kick from hell.

    Anyone got a pic?
I thought that the IT490's were the ones to watch out for! LOL I had a IT175. What was the difference between the IT and DT?

The Ohlins were never officially used on the factory bikes, but Shayne did test Ohlins on a few occasions - it was all to do with trying to find something that worked as the original PDS suspension wasn't umm...the best All the race bikes had WP suspension on both ends, at least in that era.
Here's some pics for you as promised, #9 bike is the World Championship winning machine, #1 is a bike from the '97 season (same as the one that Jos has at his shop, the one in the photo in first post) #3 bike is from the '98 season. The other pic is the official Championship certificate, sorry no pics of the trophy as that's tucked away in SK's trophy cabinet!

While we're at it, here's a few pics of Shayne's team mate at the time James Marsh. A lot of the 'ex Shayne King' bikes floating around are in fact more likely ex-James Marsh bikes, truth be known
