Bike and I went out this week.

Think my days may be over for some long rides.

Got myself a lovely job last week, there goes 10 hours a week. Riding times have now been put down to about 9 hours a week. I'm sure i shall survive and will make the most of every opportunity I get to get out and ride.

On Thursay, which is not one of my 'days' i snuck out for a quickie.

Weeeeeeee........look what I did whilst I was out

    Being in Love

That giddy feeling where one's brain floats around in lala land, well you can't do that when you ride. Must have brain firmly rooted into the brain stem so that the body does what it needs to do. I'm loving the feeling of using my body to get the bike where we need to go......I've hit that 5000k mark and I'm so more in love than I was on day one!!!!!

Got out for a little meander yeterday and wow, had no plan, just rode. Found myself some groovy little back country roads to play around and, lo and behold, found myself another friend out there playing around, we crossed paths a couple of times and went from the 'nod' to the 'wave'. I wonder if he was smiling like I was.......I'm sure he was.

Yep yep yep. I can verify that! Costs very little, unlike other tours you may go on and the company is damn fine.

Was moving a bit over the road, the gusts were rather strong and I'm rather weak. I don't have the experience to carry off riding in a hurricane. (exaggeration) Will save myself and my skin, and my bike for a less windy day.
Hey genie, secret to windy days is to completly relax your arms, grip the tank tight with your thighs & if you have to just lean on the wind like you're in a long corner. I love riding in dodgy conditions, reckon it adds something to the whole experience of two wheels, add a bit of rain to the wind if you're looking for a bit more excitement. Just remember 'light hands, strong thighs'.

Hey there Oldrider, now is good , but I have just started a new job and, as I am mum/dad to 4 little darlings, it takes some sorting to get out the door for a night let alone a fortnight. Also, need to save me some dollars

and, to Mr Hypobru, you are so right. I have since been out in some rather unsavoury weather and am pleased I started at the gym way before I got the bike, thighs are very strong as are arms....just as well, for when I dropped my P&J on a downward slope once the picking up was done with ease! The day I was mentioning in my post was a tad too windy fo me to walk in let alone ride the bike...I have also heard that sticking a knee out also helps with balance in gusty situations.

Glad to hear you are still enjoyng your Little Black Beast! Fecking working gets in the way of all the fun stuff .... work is a dirty four letter word!!! I enjoy riding in dodgier conditions, haven't done it in a while....first dodgy day was Saturday morning EARLY - 7:00am to be exact, fog from TGA to Te Kuiti, wet roads AWESOME!! Takes all your concentration and and teaches you the importance of riding smooth - great learning tool the weather!!!

You are so right, the weather is our friend. My first week was torrential rain, I loved it. Discovered that I do not melt, in fact I came alive. I'm getting some 'little' rides in and enoying those, going through the big metropolis of Nelson is another of my favourite pastimes, I've learnt patience!

I do know what you mean about the arse cheek lifting....
