Rev-it Wet Rain and Wind Gear

I gotta say that Rev-it gear is the bomb. Felt like I was riding in a weather bomb today.

I got home from work about 11.30, threw some food at my mouth, started the parlava of putting on the leather stuff, looked out the window...few clouds around, bit of wind but not too bad. Best I don the over gear just in case, plus, seeing it was a bit chilly last thing I wanted was to get cold while some strange man was following me around.

Down to the garage....open seseame....ahhhh, my eyes gaze upong my Luscious Wee Black Beast.....key in, start....hmmmm - needs a new pipe!

Out the drive and time for a wee cruise around the city streets (haha, city, have you seen Nelson???), did me a couple of u-turns, three or four hill starts and fifteen minutes to go until my appointed hour and it starts pissing down! Great...awesome...thank you Rev-it.

Off to the local AA, undress a bit.....it still pisisng down and I'm thinking, gee that wind is getting atrong....hope I don't get blown off.

Just as well I'm early, didn't know one had to fill out a form...I booked online...all's good, eye test and photo. Almost falied the photo, bad hair day and a burb at that wrong moment (can't wait to see that pic!). Ok, Karen, thanks love you can go wait in that room down there.

Waiting....Waiting.....Waiting...30 minutes I'm waiting....read all about manure on the garden while watching the rain pelt against the window....eeeeek...it's fine I love the rain...puddle jumping is my third hobby.

A deep menacing voice booms through to my brain...Karen, are you ready? Eeek, it's him, the Tester! Breath....in....out....in...out....

All is fine..he's lovely, we have a wee joke...he laughs because I'm gonna get wet, I reply, no I'm not, I'm wearing Rev-it...another laugh.

Right, he gives me the head thingy....not a problem, tells me the route I'm taking and I'm like, what no hills, didn't hear a u-turn there...looking good.

Out the drive and a quick ride around the block, along what passes for a motorway and back to the AA. Only moment of panic....damn huge truck bearing down on me with water spray 15 feet high, damn near drowned me. Didnt' like that strong wind much so never got up too
100k, was really wanting to experience what it felt like to go that fast....oh well, I can now do it legally.

Yep, both me and the Rev-it gear passed the test today...I'm not a learner no more...but I'm kinda struggling with this restricted thing....I've never really like being restricted....best I get my full on December the 2nd then. Question then is will I upgrade......??????

While I was there I asked them some questions that I have seen raised on here....

The date for getting your licence coinciding with renewal time...apparently according to her in the know...you can renew your licence anytime. Mine is up for it in Feb next year but I can renew it in December when I sit full.....no extra charge there.

Next one was about the Defensive Driving Course...does not have to be motor cycle specific...just a defensive driving course...and he informed me of the cheaper rate in Nelson. Nice man he was.

Day is done...I rose to the challenge and I succeeded. Thanks heaps to all those who offered me advice and encourgement...you were all with me. You guys rock! Love and hugs....
So I'm now restricted, have had some questions answered, I'm very pleased with my Rev-it gear but was annoyed when the rain stopped and the sun came out once I returned home!!!

    So I'm now restricted
A lot of the time spent on a motorcycle is a challenge .... I know you will continue to rise to that challenge ...

Success is when you tell us about them .... so keep talking ...

The only restrictions you need worry about are your own skill level ... keep riding, and the learning will continue ...

    Ride safe my friend ...

    Nice Genie

Just keep in mind that with an ncreased sped, comes increased speed and further planning ahead. You might be hitting corners after passing cars at a hogher speeds, and you should be planning for that too.

Cheers for that R-Sole...increased speed...ahem don't tell anyone, but I never stuck to 70k....not much has changed really.

Hitting corners after passing cars...I would not be passing a car should a corner be up the road...I prefer a nice bit of straight....I do know about corners and how approaching one too fast can cause all sorts of things to turn tits up.

It's the tyres up part you need to be worried about
