    So what to get?

Yup another one of those which bike threads!

Sold my 04 KDX 200 a while ago because of circumstances beyond my control and am ready to get another bike.
I want a 2 stroke with a budget of $2500...so my chioces are

125...the thought of less low and midrange than the KDX (which I really liked as a bike) for trail riding does not appeal.

KDX 200...why not, I had one before and I liked it.

250...would it be too much for me? Higher seat height (than KDX) and more power...

    Novice/intermediate rider, 177cm 82kg

I have not ridden a 125 before, and I have ridden a RMX 250 and enjoyed riding it.

    Cheers.

For that money, you'd get an all right 125, or a pretty rough 250. Maybe a EXC200? 82kg you'll be revving the 125 hard a lot.

looks to have lots of new bits...

i had a 99 125 until 3 years ago, never had any model specific issues with it, the frame is the original generation and according to reviews was not very nice, personally i found it good and got some bloody good results on it in 99 & 2000.

I was looking at that same RM it fell within the price range I wanted to spend, but then I saw the WR
Why would you ride that long and that gnarly stuff if you don't have to, Its what we do, we love it.

Personally after having a Cr250 MX bike then the 200exc I'd be heading towards more of an enduro based bike depending on the type of riding you do.

So it'd be the Kdx, Wr, or exc if I where you. The Cr as a good bike but the more enduro based exc suits me better. Bearing in mind B000M and cheese are younger and they race as well.

this looks ok and under your budget http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...-265759097.htm the 03 bikes are going for 3500 maybe you could get one for 3K, this from a shop http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...-265744620.htm or the exc here's one here http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...-266122911.htm looks ok!

    Anyway just my 2c

hey come on im not as old as old man cheese! He has 7 years on me! And yeah reckless is right the cr and rm are mx bikes. But thats not to say they arent perfectly good trail bikes. Youll be hard pressed to find one of these highly spoken of exc's for that kind of money

Edit: oh theres one. Didnt expect to see any in that price range

My vote would be for the RM as well, but then I ran an 05 RM250 for a couple of years as a trail bike, so know them well. Probably the easiest of the 2 smoke MX'rs to trail ride due to a healthy bottom end and some actual torque (lots more up top than a KDX usually has though).

You calling me gay? I'm confused, I said I had an RM, not a KTM?
