What pants?

Yeah I know this should be in the Bike Gear Forum, but what pants are you guys wearing for adventure riding. I've got Kevlar jeans for commute riding but they get wet and muddy and stay wet for a while which is well yeah. I want to get something that is more mx style as in Shift Squadron's style but still alright for a crash on the seal. Most of them are 600D polyester. How good is that? Is there any that you can recommend? What about those cordura camo pants with soft armor...do they get too hot and stinky for offroad riding? I'm guessing they are ok for onroad crashing...not that I intend to.

I've got a set of cordura pants with CE knee & hip armour that I use in cooler weather, & a set of MX pants for summer. I use some strap on knee guards with the MX pants & put in some more substantial hip pads made out of some closed cell foam.

I've got 3 different sets of trou....
1. Dry weather use , my Draggin Camo cargo pants, kevlar lined with CE knee armour inserts. Extra pockets are good for lightweight crap like sunnies, spare mx gloves etc. They breathe well and are warm if temps drop a bit, but just like any denim, they get soaked real quick if it rains.

2. Thor MX pants for real trail riding, usually worn with knee braces underneath, they're gonna get wet most of the time trail riding, so waterproofness is a non event, they're totally porous, but breathe well in hot weather.

3. Dainese D-Dry roadie cordura trou for winter or wet rides, yeah , like I'm ever gonna use those. Cordura is waterproof (mostly) and the trou have knee armour inserts, but I sweat in those bloody things unless the weather is really cold. Never use them in summer because of this.

Buy something versatile that you think you'll get the most use out of, basically, what's most important for you. I'd suggest looking for something with hip/thigh pads and knee armour. Anything with Gore-tex has the best waterproof quality and breathability. All MX pants leak like a sieve.

I just got a pair of spool road pants and they are about 5 years old and are still in real good nick. I wiouldn't mind some mx type pants for summer but must have protection as well.

The most common pants I saw being worn on the Dusty Butt (shit I just made a pun) were DriRider RallyCross. Bloody good adv pants they are too featuring vents, removable waterproof liner, extra wide cuffs to fit over MX boots, heat shield on inner leg etc.

+1 for the Dririder rallycross. The cool thing about them is they have waterproof linings you take out which makes them very... well... cool. Same with the jacket. I've used mine for everything from touring to trail-rides to MX tracks. I got mine about 5 years ago from a shop in Timaru over the TradeMe - not hugely expensive and very hard wearing.

Yip DriRider rally-cross are they way to go IMHO. About the only thing that could do with improving is a bit of padding in the knees

I have a dri rider jacket but for the pants I ended up buying a pair of revit dakar pants which I think are great. Not that bulky with a two zip out layers, the thermal and the waterproof liner. Zip system works really well IMO. I've had one spill on gravel no rips etc. Downside might be price, I paid $475.00 but if one pair can do all.....that's my 20 cents worth.
