    Coromandel - 309 and Fletchers bay 27th & 28th January 2010

So, after much planning Baldyman (Shaun) DRZ400 + Wife (Jackie) DT175 and Anthrax (Andy) 525EXC finally managed to do a little adventuring.

A big thanks to Andy’s wife for looking after the kids and allowing us some much needed freedom to explore the Coromandel.

    Day one:
This saw us arrive at our great accommodation (kindly arranged by Andy) unpack and head off for a quick warm-up ride (The 309 + Up as far as we could go to Castle Rock)

The road was “closed” but we went anyway. Isn’t that what it is all about?

This was Jackie’s first real ride on gravel roads and she went really well. A little cautious at first but by the end of the second day’s ride to Fletchers bay, her confidence was up and was riding like a pro.

    Well done Jackie

    Day two:

This saw a reasonably early start, first fill up with gas at Colville then it’s Fletchers Bay here we come.

Some very dry weather leading up to this trip meant the roads were really dusty and a little “loose” on top. Just what is needed when learning.

We made it up and back with-out any problems, including a small water crossing.

I’ll let the pic’s tell the rest.

A great ride was had by all and thanks again to Andy for planning this awesome ride as well as being a great camera-man and gate-opener.

We are already looking forward to the next ride.

It was an awesome trip. Jackie did real well and the place we stayed at in Coromandel was awesome. The hosts provided us with fresh smoked mullet and fresh snapper for dinner and the kids had a great time in the waterhole with their daughter Shevy. The ride was a little dusty and hot but better that than cold and wet . And my missus got a tattoo........
All in all an awesome weekend.
    Thanks guys.

P.S thanks for the pic disc Jackie, it's excellent.
