02 to 05 Triumph Daytona 955i?

Nice B I G bikes with a beautiful sound.

Heaps better than the new girly Daytona.

Not quick for a 955i. Not even close to a GSXR but ouzes style and class.

Good reliable engine that will need a few minor mods to make sound and go like you would expect it to. Mosts second hand ones are ready to go.

Great engine, just not super quick.

Triumphrat is a good site to get more precise information.

I have an 06 955.
Only done 5000km, and have had it custom mapped with a Tuneboy setup and tickled up by Triplefourensics in Taranaki.
I find it goes exceptionally well now. Handles well, great sound with an after market can on.
Reasonably comfy on a trip, and fine on the track too.

I possibly may be selling it.

I've got the 05. I love it. Had it from new, it's just done the 40K service with Kerry at Triplefourensics and the engines well within specs. I think it runs better now than it's ever done. As mentioned they don't have the grunt of the Jap fours but the character more than makes up for that. I find it very comfortable for a sportsbike and I've done the whole country on it no worries at all. They look great, especially the single swingarm models, and they sound awesome. Handling is fine and I've never had any 'moments'. I hear some of the 02 - 04's have suffered a bit from electrical issues and it's considered that Triumph 'got it right' with the 05 onwards. That's what I'd go for if you're looking. There's a couple of nice ones on TM atm, becoming quite collectible too.

I got one of the last 07's and had an 04 before it. Love the things. Tons of torque and plenty of horses to be fair.
I'm about to head to the South island next month on mine. Get the pipe done and power commander on board it will go like a cut cat my friend.
Totally recommend them.
And as you can see it's no trouble finding someone to clean it!

Nice bikes - old man has the 05', very sporty feel to them in comparison to the 98'.
Engine sounds and feels good - but not super quick (my FZ1 would crawl away from it easily).
As with all the 955i's watch for the following probs.....
- Buying triumph gen parts is like asking to be raped by the biggest guy in a prison camp of rapists.
- Water into air-rams makes computer make bike not start.
- if the back shakes get off quick.......and check the single sided.......1 case of loose nut that I know off.

I have had an 04 and an o7, both great bikes, aftermarket exhaust is a must , they just scream, As has been said they are not as quick as the jap fours, but they have character. I toured the South Island two up for 18 days, and it was terrific. The sound can be very very addictive! Good luck.

just bought an immaculate red 2003 daytona 955i 14500kms only fault i can find is rubber chain slider on swingarm quite worn which i will replace asap.got a nice sound with custom pipe cheers

good on ya!!! from what i hear , ya got to be careful not to ova tighten chain , as they run quite loose on the adjustment, maybe why chain slider worn ??

yeah manual shows looser setting for chain on single swingarm model.when i got it i thought it was a bit loose but it might be about right so they may be as you say wearing chain slider cheers mate
