I got pinged by a young dude cop doing 145k, I thought that it would be silly to just stop and as he was coming towards me in a line of traffic I pissed off even quicker,I was bloody miles away , home and hosed, I thought, came round a corner into a stream of horse floats all pulling out of an event and going my way. No way was I going to get past them safely, so I aborted flight , pulled over and waited , well over a minute for this cop to turn up. He got out of his car and had a fucking smile from ear to ear. Thought it was a wolf smile, but it wasn't , it was a "Fuck ,that was fun smile"
He told me he had never driven a car so fast before on the job and that even tho his radar stopped me at 145 he reckoned 120 would do, not even a mention of maybe 175--180. I dont give a fuck what he was like in real life, but at that moment he was cool and got a big smile from me too....Does not mean to say that they are all a bunch of cunts. a whole lot are, but we wind them up a fair bit too.... they definitely pick on m/c riders more than cages on my stretch tho....a lot of the times with good cause...if you cant do the time , dont do the crime...
I had a similar experience heading to the ferry terminal in Picton last summer. I was about 15kms over, but the cop wasn't lecturing about it, just very matter of fact, commented that he had lost a few points himself while he rode and we had bit of a chat about the K. We parted with him saying "Not to worry mate, it's not that serious" and gave me the ticket and said to ride safely. Fair cop (pun intended!) but there was no need to be one of these power tripping mo'fo's, which he wasn't. All good.
Contry to a few peoples beliefs you can see they are not all bad... and not all there to shove a batten up your arse...
They do a job (and a cunt of a job at that at times) and MOST do it well and fair
I disagree with that. It's easy enough to say "No honest officer I wont do it again", but actually having no licence for 6 months is definitely going to work more effectively as an incentive to not do it again.
I know someone who was done for DIC in similar circumstances. They weren't in the car when the cops arrived, but because the keys were in the ignition and they had driven the car, loss of licence for 6 months.
She's kept her licence. http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/ar...ectid=10622501
As I said - it sometimes is enough - sometimes it isn't. depends on what's said, seen and reported.
You're fuckin' jokin'?
If had done that to a customer when I had my own shop I would have been dragged over the coals. I'm experienced in running workshops and you just don't do that to people. If the machine needs extra work you inform the wner BEFORE you go ahead.
I am actually having trouble believeing your tale, but I do. I have no reason to think you'd lie.
Any (ANY) workshop that does unauthorised repairs should NOT be paid.
I agree, I used to have a bmw, quite old but still in fairly good nick. Took it to a local guy that specialised in bmw for a service after he gave me a quote. When I went to pick it up the price had doubled, he had done this that and the other without letting me know. Did I pay what he was asking, did I fuck!! We had an argument, but at the end of the day I got my car out of the workshop for the price we had agreed.

so as far as I'm concerned that will hurt them a lot more then refunding me...
And this was a shop that is a dealer... if you see what I ride and where im from then that will tell you who it was
Good on ya 3umph for just taking the ticket as well. Unlike on the other thread thats doing the rounds at the moment, you accepted it and paid the ticket, not blamed someone else for not prewarning you about the cop in the first place (may not have been possible in your situation though). Yup there a definately a lot of good cops out there- pity that people/media just focus on the bad ones.
Gold Diggers....like hookers just smarter
I'm sure I brought it up after it happened on here... In the past year I have steered a few people away from them for repairs and sales of bikes... and I will continue doing it and telling people what happened when we are disussing bikes....
And the work was done over a year ago now...
