Price check please all you MX aficionados

Since the New years rally where I trashed the balsl off of Centaurus's MX bike, I have been looking for an offroad toy

If this question should be in the trader section, sorry for posting here but as I aint selling thought it was logical to place it in ravings

This is a mid 90's-late 90's (owner not sure of year) KDX 250
    Whats it worth team?

It seems to be in great nick, will need chain and sprockets at some future point otherise no fork leaks, no bends or buckles, seems to have been treated very VERY well by current owner, starts first kick.....

Anyone suggest a value so i have a start point to haggle from?

    Chur

StoneY (aka that noisy mad bastard that was kiilling Centaurus bike at the beach)

Powervalves & rear linkage bearings are the expensive areas to fix & need semi regular greasing or cleaning as applicable. Check for slack when rear wheel off ground, any more than a cm means they're poked. Valves are harder to check.
Check the rims for date code. The 250 wasn't made that long, likely that's an 89 or so (might have gone to USD forks later). The 200/220s were much more popular (I've never seen a 250 that I remember).
Don't you look at my accountant.

    $1k to $1.5k???

As Dave said, it's a bit of an oddball but if you just need something reliable then why not, look it over carefully because it's old and will have been thrashed.

Put it in "off road" Stoney (or a link to it) some of the Kdx owners in our forum will probably give you an Idea!
Probably get heaps of opinion/options in there LOL!!!I doubt many of them venture into Bike ravings thread mate.

    Cheers
On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!

'Life's Journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out! Shouting, ' Holy sh!t... What a Ride!! '

the KDX250 comes in two versions, the comman one is the jap import one, it has a steel tank and less horsepower than the NZ one that was only sold here from 91-93, the import ones normally have steel tanks and frame numbers that start with DX250F-

the import one is ok for a basic rider, and the price of about $1000-1500 for a tidy one is about right,
