The countershaft seal had come out, so Clint glued it back in, we put in more oil, and took off again. And the oil fell out again
Clint went back to Taupo (through ironman traffic mayhem) and got his mum's trailer to rescue the Sherp. Meanwhile I waited patiently on the side of the road next to Tongariro prison.
But, the sherp is now fixed, and other than the offending seal, nothing else was damaged.
    Thats a bitch
would have been great to catch up with you guys and you missed a fun ride

BTW - I just found your Motu ride report - some stunning photos and a good read

how long does it take to do the Otipi Track? - looks like some cool riding in there

have the bruised bits all healed up?

    cheers

    Mark
PS - tell Clint to get off his lazy bum and finish his SI ride report

Made it back, my hands felt like rocks and moving my fingers became bloody painfull, my ass is like a flat picece of cardboard and its not much fun sitting down at the mo, but you have to expect that when you have just travelled 900km in two days.

A big cheers to bart for leading the way and taking us on some amazing back country roads, it was a great fun adventure.

Bruises have all healed, one shoulder was a bit sore for quite a while, but is almost back to normal now.
I can't remember how long it took to do Otipi, we only went about half way in, and it would have taken less than an hour each way.
The road to hell is paved...

    Well, Bart

Thanks for a Great Weekend Ride...even if we didn't know where we were going 50% of the time.....But, that is all the fun in DS!!!

Made it home about 9:00 PM....after a couple of cups of coffee and a biscuit or two, or three!

Keen to do another ride when I get back from the states.............

I'll have different tires next time....guaranteed...won't make much difference......Ha!

    Yeah great ride guys
Big K's, on great back roads and gravel - reckon my drifting technique is now pretty much dialled in although on the last few bits my bald rear tyre did give a few scary moments But not as many as the almost bald front
Seemed much better after I drew some fresh knobblies on with a bit of stone
Still couldnt stick with the gravel king Bart though

Was great to get out again after a long time with no riding. Thanks to all for great company and great riding

But next time - lets be prepared for the rivers and check the tide times!

Nah, that wouldn't be right! Not Bart. He's one of THE most organised people I know....

    1. Horseman's Cafe Shannon. Got to start somewhere, & Coffee is v.important...
    2. Bart's new skid lid.
    3. MarkS keeping the rain at bay. Everytime he put this on, it cleared...
    4. Where are we again?
    5. Now Gav, I know you've ridden across the river 4 times to demonstrate its safe, but I'm not sure...can you demonstrate it one more time...without getting wet?

Cheers Gav. Glad to see you made it home with that tyre.

Did you see the news. We were only a few k's south of Haumoana and it looks like that was the highest tide in a decade. Sea was a bit rough eh.

I'll get a few photos up soon.
