What cracks me up about the AMA is

That is a bunch of yanks riding about on Jap bikes when they hate Jap cars. I guess being 1/3 of the worlds market of bikes they have a heavy influence on what goes into the bikes, but has there ever been any big USA brand bikes and were they any good? Or were they as shit as their cars??

PS you riding anywhere on Sunday? (if I'm sober by then )??
On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!

Showin' your age there baby boy!

About the same time Cal Rayborn was cleaning up the Daytona 200 on a Harley, Ford's GT40 was killing Ferrari at Le Mans. A comparatively run of the mill Boss Mustang or DZ302 Camaro would give any other volume manufactured car of the time a run for it's money and wouldn't break the bank doing it. The local GTHO and 327/350 Monaro's were just rebodied American running gear thanks to their American parent companies and I seem to recall they weren't too shabby on the local scene.

Want something newer? The modern GT40 is pretty good and the 2009 ZL1 Corvette won a test against the 2009 GTR Skyline:
    http://www.insideline.com/chevrolet/...ssan-gt-r.html

Here's a lil' excerpt that basically says you should stick to drinkin':

"Through the slalom cones the ZR1 shocks again, with an average speed of 74.7 mph. Not only is this fractionally faster than the all-wheel-drive GT-R's 74 mph, it smokes the GT2's 71.6 mph by a long shot..."

Hmmm I love American cars and dislike Japanese cars and even my Honda US Wagon was built in the USA, so I actually have two American cars even though the Honda is a Japanese company! I think I dislike Australian built cars just about as much as Japanese, boring cars driven by fattys who can't find their dicks anymore mostly.
I do like Japanese MX bikes though, well at least a couple of them before they went all stupid and put diesel engines in them.

Don't forget the rehearsed lifting of the drink sponsors product to your lips just as the interview starts and finishes without actually drinking anything lol! Yeah the interviews are a complete waste of time for the watcher.

Harley Davidson actually built a motocrosser in the late 70's. (Can't remember if they used someone else's engine).

Cheers for the link barty - I didn't realise ATK was still in business. There was an older ATK blatting round at the sandpit before Christmas. They had an interesting setup with countershaft sprocket in line with swingarm pivot, just like the new Beemer 450 (chain tension stays constant as swingarm moves).

they use to run the rear brakes up on the drive sprocket as well less weight on the rear wheel was a very small disc thought and they where all 2T back then as well you still get a few on TM that pop up and there is a dealer in auzzie.
