KTM 690 Duke

Putting it out there , any one own a 690 Duke or know someone who has one? I am thinking about buying one and want to get some feedback on long term ownership. I have had an XT660X and SV1000 naked as my last two bikes . I don't do huge k's and most riding is tight twisty back roads.
Love the upright and wide bar stance of a tard and quick handling but want a bit better level of suspension/brakes. Cheers

.......Dissapointing Fargin Khan, the motor could double as a jack hammer......As a road bike only the truely dedicated would bother.
Buy a twin/triple.

the engines very smooth actually the LC4 is KTM most reliable engine ever as a sub note, the 690 makes a very capable road tourer as well as sports machine, not to bad on the track to

Yeah the 690 Duke R is a weapon. THey're getting 70hp out of the single now!

I like the 690 for it's light weight , but I think I would probably end up wringing it's neck chasing my mates on there 750's and 1000's. The xtx was fun in the really tight going and had the single character , but certainly ran out of puff over 150km/h. Nothing like that v twin torque and sound , but sm990's are way out of my price range. I have test ridden a sm950 , which I quite liked but did not entirley gel with to the point of "must own it". I gues the best thing to do from now is to test ride a Super Duke , SM690 and go from there.

Your mates would probably be bricking it on windy roads up to 140kmh trying to keep up with the 690. Wide bars & skinny tyres make for a very nimble bike. My TDM keeps sprot bike riders very honest on windy roads.

ive got one and they are wicked, good brakes and suspension

shows plenty of sportsbikes the way over the hills round here!!

I rode a 690sm, the duke definently has a bit more go (as claimed) and the front end a bit more feel

and they look hot
