Can I compliment the roading engineers who resealed the km or so down the Akaroa side from the Hilltop. Nice well laid plain seal, with not a trace of nasty chip seal to be seen! If they sealed the whole hill like this, people would come from overseas to ride it!! [Might have to base an Ambo at the top tho!!]

Last time I was there temp got inot the loe 30's & the road started to melt

Quite simple: They use decent materials and do the job properly. The kiwi "do it on the cheap" method simply creates more work for roading crews to go back and patch up bits, and gives them more opportunity to use their favoured tar-snake applicator.

Pity the whole road is heavily policed this time of year, including mufti's.
