    Holy Roller has a bike!

Righto this is for Holy Roller as the name suggest, seems he is still having trouble creating new threads. Anway I'll let him elaborate on the subject.

    Thanks Waylander

    The story so far....
My old XV got written off by a drunk driver not seeing me and pulling out across my path.

Fortunatly I as not hurt just a bit of skin left on the road. I was heading home from the shop at 4:30pm to get ready for night shift. She was drunk and the car had no plates or rego. She left before the cops turned up with her bottle of JDs. Big thanks to the cops as they found her a couple of hours later.

Battle with insurance company over one month. Took them two weeks to decide that the bike needed to go into a bike shop for a quote. Quote came back $200 less than it was insured for. Technically written off. Then they wanted a pre accident valuation to determin how much they would pay out.

Valuation came back $500 more than insurance. I got a full pay out and will get the proceeds from the sale of the wreck. Did not lose my no claims bonus or have to pay any excess.

Had been looking for another bike to replace it with.... but what?
With $5000 to work with sort of limited my search but not the options. The decision of what to buy took a long time, stay with the cruiser or go sports or sports tourer.
I wanted to stay with Yamaha. What I got was a lot more horsepower and CCs. It is such a pleasure to ride, comfort and style, tis music in my ears.
Reps up for grabs to whoever guesses what it is

    A Big Thanks to Blackbird

Thanks Blackbird for the initial check of the bike I was impressed with the report you gave me. The bike has been great so far, took it to Gisborne for the weekend to the Ulysses Rally. It did need a new battery and has been sweet since.

Congratulations HR! Glad it's all worked out for you.

I don't know a lot about big Yamahas, but it's obviously not an R1 or an FZ1.

Perhaps a 1400 Virago? (does such a beast exist?? Like I said, I'm not too up on big Yammies).

For $5K? I'd say a vmax would be the way to go or a XV1100, maybe FJ1100?

I'd be impressed if you scored a V-Max for 5K, so will bet on an FJ1200, second bet an early XJR1300

The only cruiser you could get under 5 grand would be the Virago 1100,otherwise I too go for the FJ1200,one of the easiest big bikes to ride, they are a cruise, plenty of power comfort and handling.
