    Hog rally and rant

To all the harley riders , its nice to see you all around christchurch this weekend , for your annual rally. My little boy being going nuts every time he's out in the car, with me.

As I drive for a living I see everything, good , bad and terrible accidents.
Alot of harleys ran up to kaikoura today, 99% of you were a pleasure to be on the road with.

To the 4 custom harley riders I struck at 2:05pm in the hundulee's,heading north, namely the front rider, you are only alive because of my reaction and quick thinking ,when you came round a blind corner on the wrong side of the road, at high speed, you had zero options.

I threw my truck and trailer towards the bank face to give you half a chance, I'm lucky I was empty and the passenger side mirror getting knocked against the cab , that is the only damage. My head isn't hurting anymore from hitting the drivers side window glass.

But after pulling the seat out of your arse, a cold beer , and talking shit about how good your bike goes, you still don't realise someone saved your life today.

    Rant over

Sweets, there is always going to be the dick head biker that while thinking he is cool ends up either, lending his trip to a place like this so we can bag him for it, or dead. The other option is he will make his moves and the only people that will notice will be the car drivers that got a fright and hate all bikers as a result.

Sorry you met one of the could not give a shit, my skills are better than any other road user, I will ride the way I want with no consideration for the people that care about me, I am invincible bikers that seem to frequent our roads.

Good skills too btw, hope your head is not too bruised.

He's not a member of KB, i'd lay odds he won't front !
I would lay odds however that someone will come accross an idiot on a bike in the south island today !
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

Agreed.Spent much time riding through the Hundaless (grew up at Fernihurst, just south of the old Conway store) and some of the shit ive seen on that road is trtuely amazing, like it or not the fact is the best has been performed by guys on HarleysPrimo bit of road all the way up to Kaikoura but why anyone on something with the wheel base of afore mentioned truck would attempt to go hard is beyond me.Credit to the thread poster for saving his life.

Going hard and going just plain stupid are two different things though aye ! I like to go hard out, but draw it at stupid ! And yes Good on the OP for recognising the riders predicament and putting himself at risk avoiding him !

    Funny that.

Some mask wearing clown on a Softail decided to use my lane and cut right across the front of my car as he turned right into the street I was turning right out of just this afternoon. Regardless of who had right of way if I wasn't quite so quick on the brakes or decided to stop at the imaginary line anyway I would have punted the fucker off into the weeds after shattering his leg and fuck knows what else.

I'm a member of the HOG, but the HOG rally being on was the main reason I decided to keep my bike in the garage this weekend and go fishing instead. I've seen one too many blatant acts of stupidity at and around those things to want to enter that particular lottery again.

I imagine the only thing worse would be if the GSXR Owners' Group were to hold a national rally. Then I think I'd leave town all together for the weekend.

Hell I know that, chance one of his mates my read it , Have close calls and suffer dick head driving on a daily basis, most I forget by the next day. If it wasn't for the amount of harley's on the road ,I would have called kaikoura police, as highway patrol was in south bay(mufti) and had him pulled for dangerous driving, I had a witness following behind me.

Don't put yourself at risk for other people. Think of your family.

    Steve
"I am a licenced motorcycle instructor, I agree with dangerousbastard, no point in repeating what he said."
"read what Steve says. He's right."
"What Steve said pretty much summed it up."
"I did axactly as you said and it worked...!!"
    "Wow, Great advise there DB."

We went up on Friday and headed back today, most of the riders we saw were sensible but there was the odd idiot, oddly the idiots seemed to have ape hangers or uber wide bars. Some of the drivers were none to clever on the way up, Allied Pickfords are in for a phone call tomorrow re their driver.
Its not the destination that is important its the journey.

Just imagine it - a group run of several hundred of them to Akaroa!!!!!!!!!

I was in Diamond Harbour with my 7 year old son fishing when they came through the tunnel and around the bays - man you could hear them from the other side of the harbour for about 20 minutes.

Out with the family in the car today we spied a lot of clean bikes - lots of ladies on their own ones too - good to see. I did grin at the hero lane splitting at speed with a police car in chase. I suspect the cop was close to giving up due to the about of traffic and the danger the silly biker was putting himself and the public in. For a fleeting moment I was thinking - hell year go for it mate.

On a side note - it must be true that GOD rides a harley.

Weeks on end of grey cool shit weather here and come Friday it clears up and has been a pearler for the past 3 days with 29 expected tomorrow!
