    What a mission!

After about 8 months of good use, the right sole of my Alpinestar Tech 10's gave out. I went into Mr. Motorcycles and got the kit to replace it.

The concept was simple, heat up the sole and pull it off. As simple as it sounds, it was a fucking mission! I had to pull it off in a few stages, heating different areas and pulling it off bit by bit. After about 30 minutes it was off!

Now all I need is some sandpaper to give the base of the boot a clean up and it's go from there.

Has anyone else replaced the soles on boots themselves before? At least I'm saving by doing it myself ... even despite it being a mission!

Yip, have done my Tech6 a few times now and theres a real art to it.
Bought the original replacement heal arch thingies for it and glued them on (with Ados f2 like they come from the factory), next race meet they fell of. Walked the entire track to find them, glued the on with a different glue and they fell of again. Lost them that time.
Bought some TCX entire soles, and fully replaced the entire Alpinestar sole with them. The secret is to glue them on with Ados as usual, bet then screw right around the entire edge with stainless self tapping screws. My boots have done about 12 racemeets and some pactises since and the soles haven't even looked like falling off.

Hope this helps and you don't have the same drama i had.

    Hey there,

I bought the whole kit from Mr Motorcycles and it included the special Alpinestars glue that they use on the original soles. You have to apply it, let it dry and then heat it up again and then stick them on.

    Lets hope it works!

I have been through 3 pair of soles on my tech 10s. I am not dissipointed becasue they are the nicest boot money will buy. Pay somebody to change them i use quality shoes repairs here in hamilton. Boyds recomended them to me and i pay $30 per boot to have them resoled and plus ive got to buy the sole from boyds. Soles last about 50 hours.

Buy larger foot peggs that will reduce wear and makes those flat landings so much easier on your feet. I use Pivot peggs.

Tech10's are renoun for breaking/wearing easily. I have heard that Alpinestars pays the top MX/SX riders extra coin for using the T10 rather than the Tech8's. Go gaenes, they last forever

My soles started to peel off after about a year (they were 2ndhand), I tried regluing but would only last a ride or 2, got a cobbler to do it for $20, they're still stuck 8months on but now the boots are falling apart haha.

Alpsienstars have softer soles than a lot of boots, its for extra grip apprantly, some people are worse on boots than others and most people only wear out the l/h boot (gear lever),

stomping the footpeg everytime I start my bike seems to destroy soles had fly boots that wore a hole after 20hours another 35 on sidi crossfire srs its looking pretty chewed up by right big toe almost no wear on the other one luckily only 40bucks for soles and they are held on by screws
tech 10s do look like a bit more solid boot though
