It goes shit. Put it in on Monday morning. Was foobahed by yesterday afternoon...worst run yet.

Have just bought ten Maxell batteries off'n Tard Me at just under $3.00 each - as opposed to $7.00 each from DSE. Will see how they go...

Still seems to be a very short battery life to me...

    Yes, very.

I use the ones from DSE and have much better life than that.

Once I got in the habbit of turning it off (took about 3 batteries!) I'd say I'd get 25-30 hrs out of a battery

    Maybe ask for another unit?

I am beginning to lean towards that idea...(another unit).

I always turn it off. This week I think I may have got about 4 - 6 hours running out of the DSE battery. Adaptiv reckon you should get about 20 hours of activation and 60 hours on standby. I sure as hell am not getting that much...

FYI I took my TPX into RadarDirect today as the LED display had come loose (ie floppying around inside the case) and he told me there is no way to fix it. He, as the agent said they tried getting into one before and ended up breaking it and had to replace it.

Only a matter of time before the display stops working due to vibration Unit is only 16 months old.......

    Update:

Radar Direct replaced, under warranty, the wireless earpiece. The new one is still on its first battery. A HUGE increase in battery life. Oh and it saved my arse today as well...

Detector now buggered, LED screen fades in and out and warnings go off all the time, even in my garage! (about 20 months old)

Took it to Radar Direct in Mt Wellington and was told no way to fix it and would not even attempt to fix/send it away. Was happy to sell me another unit tho......

Said no other units have had this problem and now that i'm used to having one am going to give another one a go as when it was working it did work well(false confidence maybe)

Last chance or I'm gonna have to slow down......

Not that much but not cheap either. If i didn't have the 999 i wouldn't have bothered but I end up going fast everywhere on it, makes me feel better.

Went out y-day and didn't have the (false)confidence to go the speed I wanted to to make things fun!

I'd rather pay for a detector than traffic tickets let alone points.

I'd say it's saved me a least a couple of tickets, car & bike.

New unit cost me $400, that lasts another 2 years i'd say it was worth it so long as i don't get any tickets!

That was just the unit itself, no LED or ear piece, mounts etc. Prolly got a little off as i got the last one from him.

TPX has proven good, no complaints with picking up cops, speed cameras.

Oh, and it's waterproof so no extra cover required, why i didn't get a Valentine.

I bought one from USA and I don't know if it is set up different to NZ sold ones but it was useless really. Speed camera flashed me at the same time as I was alerted. OK so maybe you need a top of the line model to detect speed cameras.
Mine wouldn't give enough warning even from a cop at 50 meters. Bottom line is the concept is great but the range it covers is bottom of the line.

With the new K band in cameras you wont get a warning till ya on top of it, they have a very low power thingie.
At 50mts the radar will proberly have been on stand by, so dont through ya unit in the trash just yet, I have also noted of a late they are using the radars diferently that being they keep them turned of.

Hmm... i have noticed exact opposite that lots of cops keep their in car radar on all them time, especialy around auckland (but did a Dunedin to Auckland trip last week and lots of south island cops had the Ka band on as well)
But thanks for letting me know about the K band i currently have it turned off on my RX65 (automatic door alerts are annoying) so was wondering why it didnt beep when going past camera van the other day...
