I'm on the lookout for a new project, but am finding it really hard to find crash damaged bikes. In the UK these things are ten a penny!
Maybe I'm just searching the wrong terms on trademe
Any advice would be much appreciated!
Cheers
Luke

Visit a few bike wreckers ... the un-crashed but aren't running are good too ...

In Auckland there are periodic auctions. The bikes do not appear on Trade Me as far as I know. Any insurance Company that covers bikes should be able to advise you where your nearest auctions are held.
Turners Auctions have a website anmd you may find something there?
There are crashed bikes listed frequently on Trademe by the user nicbak - which are Star Insurance writeoffs.
The thing is that people in NZ seem to be willing to pay stupid money for very damaged bikes so it's not uncommon that they exceed 50% of the value of a good condition bike, means that you end up cutting it pretty thin on saving/profit.

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.
The Trademe name is actually nicbak13.
I just typed 'wreck' and found loads.
Good luck.

Definitely Star Insurance I knew a guy who got a vtr 1000 for $1000 and cost him $500 to get it ridable as he was a motorcycle mechanic at the time, pretty good bargain

"read what Steve says. He's right."
"What Steve said pretty much summed it up."
"I did axactly as you said and it worked...!!"
"Wow, Great advise there DB."
