    1st time

    Hey i just went for my 1st off road ride, over the haka pass, what a trip, easy gravel road for u peps that know what u r doing, but i loved it. on my kle500, legs r like jelly today, but i cant wait for the next trip, anyone have some ideas, for places to go round the lower south island??

    I thought "off-road" was when the track was dirt ... gravel is a road isn't it ... I went over there on a GS1000 a few years back ...

    Try the Black forest area ... the Omarama saddle ( to St Bathans ..locked gates but ask and the key can be made available)... Danseys pass ... The Herbet forest ...

    just to name a few in your area ...

    There,s alway,s one ..... I went over there on a GS1000 a few years back ......

    FJRider has already mentioned a few that are close to you. You should also try Myers pass (From Waihou Downs to the Haka road) and Thompson's Track (from Omakau to Tarras)

    Meh! I went over there on a GS1100GK with a pillion...on frozen mud (Brass Monkey weekend)

    No doubt someone has taken an 1800 Gold Wing over there too.
    it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
    those cheap ass bitches can do anything with ductape.

    Good onya.. off road riding will givE you a lot of experiance.
    balance... brakes... suspension. when you get back on the road you will be more aware of whats around you
    did i mention pain..... that happens.. ask and ADV rider..
    you are going to arse of a lot..
    but thats half of the fun...
    good luck with your offroading adv.
    but allways watch the shit on the road........
