Would you ask a painter why he paints? A writer why he writes?

Of course not. Why? Because we all know they have no choice.

And neither do I. It's an obsession, a compulsion. It took me 26 years to get my first bike, only lasted 3 months, and will take me at least another year to get another one.

I have to do it though. I can mention any of the above excuses, it's fun, theroputic(sp?), cheaper, etc, but at the end of the day they're just that.

True there are things that could cause me to not get a new bike, no money, personal circumstances, or injury. But as far as I'm concerned I'll always be a biker.

I ride because I used to ride when I was much younger and I'm trying to re-capture my youth. (Hey, my brother bought an MG for his mid-life crisis)

I ride because it's a whole lot more fun than going on the buses.

I ride because it's cheaper than taking the car or the bus. (yeah OK, forget the insurance and rego and the cost of actually buying 'the beast')

I ride because my wife says I can (and she likes it on the back toodling along at about 4500 rpm in 4th because there's a certain vibration just at that spot that she finds rather pleasant).

I ride because it makes me different to so many other road users but at the same time gives me a feeling of brothership when I see another biker.

Riding suits and enhances my life

Yep all of that as well, but especially because SWMBO says it's all right. She won't go on the back of the bike like in the old days though. Perhaps I should remind her about that 4500 rpm. Hmmm.

I ride because it's the best way to journey

I ride to work because it's another reason to ride

I ride to see places I haven't seen before and revisit places I have

I ride to share the road with other riders, alone yet together

I ride because my V-rod is a work of art, it's never finished, but I take it out to show it off between custom brush-strokes

I ride because riding is one of the best ways to stay focussed, concentrated and to be able to 'enjoy the moment' for hours at a time

I ride because it requires skill and study to ride well

I ride because every now and then it scares me

I ride because only when I stop riding will I start to feel old

Me too. Started practising for my mid life crisis when I was 15. Figured if I kept it up until I was hit 40 I wouldn't notice it when it started.

    I ride because

    1) saves petrol.
    2) free parking.
    3) hate Aucklands shit traffic, on a bike, faster easier.
    4) lots of fun

And looking at your signiture I can see that you like to add bits and pieces to increase the amount of adrenelan.

Yeah, TT only three weeks away now www.iomtt.com

We like the TT however it's also very nice when everyone has gone and we get our roads back.....some people just take the piss during the week, and as they mostly do not know the course, it can be somewhat dangerous out there..

anyway just off for a lap to blow off the tedium of another working day
    Because I can......................
