a few years ago a mate of mine decided to come north for a 21st. He rode his vfr up from welly with a friend. Halfway up the island he gets a flat tyre and just manages to make it to a service station where he and his mate remove the tyre. He falls asleep near his bike while our mate shoots of to a nearby town to get the puncture repaired. When he returns they fit the wheel and fill up.
Thats when my mate (we could call him monkeyboy) discovers his wallet has been stolen while he had his kip. Roughly he lost five or six hundred dollars in cash. But our mate offers to cover him for the weekend so at least his only problem will be getting replacement cards etc.
Nearish to hamiltron the vfr comes to a stop for no reason. It turns over but wont start. Much frustration. Eventually it screams to life after a push start. They attempt to continue on thier way and all appears well untill bike stuffs out again. Vfr guy has an uncle that lives near by so they give him a ring and he saves the day by picking up the bike and taking it back to his house. Monkeyboy and our friend continue, two up, to the party. I think I forgot to mention its been pissing down the whole time.
A good time at the party and with serious hangovers they set off the next day back to hamilton. With an idea that the vfr is having fuel problems they take the bike into a local shop who strip the entire fuel system apart (insert "chi ching sound" of money) and replace the odd bit that might be dodge.
Bike starts and runs fine. Thinking all is well they pack the bikes and set off again and get about an hour out of town when bike breaks down again. By this stage our mate has had a few delays because of monkey boy and when the vfr fires back into life he follows him back to town but because he has to work the next day our mate heads off returning to welly alone.
Monkeyboy pulls bits off of bike and goes over fuel system with micrometer. A few more dodge things are found and "fixed". Next day dawns showery and wet. Again. Thinking that most likely the problem has been sorted he heads off back to welly, pocket full of borrowed money (chi ching).
He gets about 150kms and bike breaks down in the middle of nowhere. Fearing for his belongings he pushes the bike 1 km or 2 to the nearest farm house (in the rain) and rings his uncle. His bloody awesome uncle comes out to pick the bike up and they head back into town. As they fuel up at a petrol station the mirror of another truck, also fueling up, clips the mirror of his bike as it is leaving with its own mirror and rips front fairing (chi ching).
Monkey boy by this stage has given up on the bike and arranges for it to be shipped down to a wellington bike shop for repairs (chi ching). He also cant put work off any longer so he books a ticket on a overnight bus to welly (chi ching).
The lady in front of him on the bus is a large lady who decides to read her book with the light focused directly in his face. At some point in the wee hours of the morning the bus goes over a bump which is just enough to let the recliner of the large ladys seat give way. The seat unfolds rapidly and crashes onto monkey boys knees. He would have swapped seats but the bus was full. So with large lady crushing his legs for 4 hours he arrives back in welly. (chi crunch)
The next day he hitches out to the bike shop and gets there in time to see his bike coming out of it's crate. Something heavy has been rested on top of the crate and broken thru and worn/rubbed a whole thru his tank. And the insurance ?? he couldnt afford any so (chi ching) he has to find a second hand one. In the end the baffle was loose and sometimes it would be bumped in such a way that his whole exhaust would prevent any flow of air. The whole journey all up cost him about 2500 -3000.

Sheeeeeee-it, Biff, you didn't tell me it was that bad! I'm going to have to charge double to fix it...Originally Posted by Biff Baff

Quasi.....
Stay at home on Friday 13th... in fact stay in bed all day, then nothing else can happen to you.

Might not be such a grand idea, once part of a jet engine broke away from the plane and crashed through a roof landing on the bed. Well, virtually disintergrating the bed. Perhaps stay in the garden shed.Originally Posted by crashe
