So pulled the front wheel off the PD over the weekend. I found a white residue all over the front disc.
I have no idea what it is off but have 2 theories. Either it's from something I rode through on Friday while doing the CCA pre ride like wet clay or something, or it's something thats leeched out of the pads.
Bear in mind I fitted a RF900 caliper to the PD last year which was supplied with used pads. I have no knowledge of the history of the pads except they came from a wrecker so were quite possibly off a wreck.
Whether they have at some time had any sort of brake fluid/oil whatever soaked into them I wouldn't know but I've always though the upgrade didn't give as much improvement as people overseas have claimed.
I am fitting new pads this week and before I do I want to remove the residue properly. Aside from rubbing the disc down with a clean rag is there anything I can use on the disc that will evaporate cleanly and leave no residue and not put my life in danger everytime I use the brakes, or stuff my new pads?
