really impressive numbers!! 1000+ riders is HUGE!! and theres bugger all congestion too which is amazing for so many bikes!

i hope we raised enough money for them!

i think i paid about $120 in entry fees.....

$120 x 1000 = $120,000

note, im not complaining, it reckon its a bloody awesome event, and ill be there again next year for sure!!

more figures to wow at-

assume an average bike value of $5000 - theres plenty of new ones, plenty of old ones, and plenty in the middle 1234 bikes is $6,170,000 worth..... most of which sitting in the paddock overnight

makes you glad there were army guys patrolling EVERYWHERE all night

plus riding gear, plus cars trailers, camping gear.
that would have to be one of the best rides i have been on.
very well run.
can't wait till next year.

the first refuel point was too close to the start- but it was as far as it could be and still serve the sniper alley trail.... however i dont think many people would have needed to fill up for the sniper alley, i know i didnt. and then the 2nd fill point i agree was too close to the finish, and could qute easily logisticly been placed a lot further back than it was because of the way the trail follows along the road side for so long.


things im sure they will get better at over time. after all - thar WAS only their 2nd attempt at a the tussock buster, and both times have been bloody well done

How long was the sniper track? i thought it was only 40k's. if that can't be done on a tank it must be a small tank or it leaks.

Sniper was 53k.
I for one was glad of the two fuel stops although one a bit more in the middle up on the top road would have been better. Its just another 10k away by road thats all.

i did the dambuster track on one tank of gas, i did have to switch on to reserve about 6k's from home

9.5 I think-the same as mine. I filled up when we did the Tussock Buster loop and did a quick measure when I refilled back at the campsite. I reckon I would have got all the way around on a tank but I am glad that I didn't put that to the test. Dunno what sort of oil they put in their premix though-it was kind of smoky:-)

In terms of whether it was too easy I don't have any complaints -there were some harder sections but the I reckon the organisers of rides like this need to make the rides achievable and therefore enjoyable for riders of all skill sets.

I thought the organisers did a pretty good job-and you are never going to please everyone all the time.

mines definatly more than 9.5l, i can empty a hole 10l petrol container filled to the brim into my tank and it still isnt full

Interesting - according to the KTM add in the Kiwi Rider for the new EXC 300s it is 9.5 litres mine is 9.5 according to the specs

Dads 09 ktm manual lists AUS EXC models with a 11L tank.
And they have a 2L reserve

When you have to keep filling it again and again it def seems like it is bottomless anyway...Like FlyingCR I thought mine must be 11.5 (9.5l with 2l reserve) as I did the Dambuster track with FlyingCR and had to switch to reserve at the same time (on the same hill). The Dambuster distance was 91 km on the speedo.
I was pretty curious about how much fuel it actually took so after tussock with an empty tank I drained it to reserve then measured the reserve fuel - 1.5 l (actually 1.4 but there will always be some dregs stuck in the tank)
Filling it to the brim was 9.8l total. I think the fuelstop was at 75k or so and it wasn't long after that I went onto reserve. I think we must have been on fumes when we got back!
