The marketing boys have done the figures - Honda are in this world to make money....so obviously they expect to find enough buyers to pay for development and tooling costs. How many experianced motorcyclists would have this thing on top of their must buy list? I must be out of step with the rest of the world - it's on any list of mine.

Looks like they found another use for the gold wing motor.

Motu is right, Honda wouldn't of built it unless they KNEW they would sell enough to make a profit.

    Honda's Rune.

I have an open mind. I accept a lot of strange things; I like the BMW C1, and I think the Triumph triple is OK. And I'm happy with the Scarver.

    But Rune?? PUKE!

I read an article in a recent Cycle World and Honda aren't expecting to make money on it at all. Styling and engineering exercise for the US Honda lads and a market "tester" apparently.

definitely gross. I saw one outside the new Blue Wing Honda premises in the Harp of Erin, greenlane and I thought it was a scrap metal dealer. Woefully, woefully ugly.

But then Iv,e always had strange taste in such things.
I would just love to pull up next to me brothers Hog on the thing.
Even better if he had a few of his in the wind bro,s around.
It would take him a year to live it down,an I still wouldn,t give a shit.

    Hmmm.

My father *loves* those Rune abominations. Started using a picture of one as his 'puter wallpaper when Honda did the first press release about it ages back (I think it replaced a picture of a Fat Boy).

He's never ridden a motorcycle in his life.

Given that he's an example of the picture-perfect Harley target demographic (including the never-ridden part), and given that he has a helluva lot more money than I do for instance, etc etc, I do wonder whether Honda might not manage to recoup a bit more cash than expected. Given the number of graying merkin accountant types that have been throwing cash at the Motor Company in return for overpriced bone-rattlers in the last decade or so.

I like the "Rune" too - just. It's better looking than some I've seen of that same type. It seems very long, or is that just the mudguard down the back?

That, and the front forks (are they forks?) seeming more raked than they really are.

true true... probably not surprising I don't like it because its really not meant to be the sort of bike 24 yr olds obsessed with fast bikes are going to buy. Its certainly distinctive which I admire and thats not something to be taken lightly.

(FWIW, I actually feel safer on the GSXR than the ZX-6R now because of the increased handling and braking abilities)

    It's a bit small.

Looks like it may have been designed by Gene Simmons in colaboration with a fitness instructor by a similar name. "touch your toes, and stretch and stretch, and stretch......."
