Two Coffee Ride - Rimutaka Hill - Featherston - Whitemans Valley - Short Straw - Blue

WEATHER - RIDE IS ON THIS MORNING

    Saturday 6th March
    Two Coffee Ride:
    1 Raumati/ 2 PauatahanuI Inlet

    Meeting Point - Avalon Duckpond
    10.10am for 10.30am Departure

STOP PRESS - Will decide on Saurday morning to alter ride to Kapiti for two coffees - just been told Saturday is Martinborough Fair - so the ride over the Rimutaka Hill would not be much fun.

This ride is set at novice 250cc pace, and is open to all riders. Experienced riders prepared to assist with lead and tail end positions and to ride with 250cc riders is appreciated.

    RIDER RESPONSIBILITY
As a road user you are personally responsible for your own safety, riding behaviour, and observing the Road Code at all times, whether riding independently or in a group of two or more bikes.

    ALCOHOL/DRUGS
All riders attending these rides are requested to refrain from any alcohol consumption before and after these rides (until they return home). Riders that may be taking prescription drugs are asked to seriously consider whether to ride. Any other drug users – don’t bother attending.

Riders are encouraged to read the guide before attending the programmed rides.

Count me in for this one. Really want to see what the blue mounatains road is like - and where it is.

    Weather looks good for Saturday.

Had a look on map - thanks for posting it. Line 1 looks a bit funny though - have you bought the hovercraft thing from trademe? The route is "as the crow flies" rather than following the road - made me giggle when I realised.

    Cheers

    Ben

Cheers Ben, now corrected the 'crow-fly-line'. In the meantime, if you have time take a ride out to Silverstream and follow the Blue Mountains Road up the way, it is 1km climb with numerous bends, then turn around and come back down it is a good challenge. 250cc riders will be selecting 2nd/3rd gear on descend.

    Hi guy,

Just something you may want to consider for this Saturday on the hill: its Martinborough Fair Day, so you will be escorted by 30,000 people in cars

You sure will be - I myself am going to the Martinborough Fair, and if its anything like last year the traffic is going to be very heavy and constant right through the day. Take it easy out there, and enjoy the ride (Sorry that I can't make it, feel like spending some money on many things that I don't need!).

The Apiti Scamper is on Saturday as well, so if anyone would like to join me for that I will be heading up to Palmy at about 7am. This ride is to raise money for Ronald McDonald House, so it is definitely for a good cause.

I'll be taking the ZX10 (if i get the whole rear of the bike back together tonight). Got new tires today, fit them on tomorrow then throw the wheels back on. Will be doing a steady rate of 100ks-110ks most of the way.
