    Cold Duck rally in May

    http://coldduckrally.com/

Is this worth doing a gravel road ride up to from Welly? any interest?

Good venue, well arranged, has all the standard rally stuff going on as well as a ride out.... go for it.

for some people, you really do need to book some things significantly in advance.

Just checked the calendar, and we don't have anything on that weekend, I will mention it to Roj and we may be able to meet you there.

I took an adventurous route to the One Night Stand rally outside of Havelock North. Had a ball of a time, even though I was on a XR250. Would be quite happy to do it again if you dont mind waiting for a 250.

You could do most of the RRRR Sunday route (backwards). I think we went right past the Cold Duck venue.

I used to do the Cold Duck every year when I had (real) road bikes. I have great memories of watching everyone arse off in the mud at the old venue, near Tikokino.

Could be interested, as it is just up the road for me.

If anyone is keen, the next day (Sunday) there is a trail ride at Omakere which is about 10mins down the road from the rally site.

I have decided that I will definitely take the XR to Cold Duck and then do the trail ride before returning to Welly. Anyone want to join in?
