    Awesome suspension mod

What you do is take one CBR250RR and add in 25mm spacers. But you sit the additional spacer on the spring without a washer, then you put in a washer and the actual spacer.
Now who cares if the spring is tapered at the bottom, just stick them in any way you like, actually if you put one in with the taper up and one with the taper down you've covered both bases right.
Well it could be right, except because of the taper and the short spacer on top of it the suspension gets compressed and the spacer jambs sideways down one side of the spring and prevents the spring from returning.
Having done this, add oil. How much? who cares? does it matter? Whatever you have should do it.

This is the shit I found in a set of forks I just did up. Personally I didn't like the front end on this thing, however the owner being about 40kg lighter didn't mind it too much. I was changing the head bearings and whilst the forks were out I wanted to check the oil.
Took the caps off and found the spring jambed in one fork and oil 150ml short.

Good one numb nuts. If you don't KNOW what you are doing, leave this shit alone FFS.

My guess is that it fell apart while they were assembling it, and they didn't realise.

No excuse, I know, but I can't imagine someone intentionally assembling anything like that. Maybe thats just me.

FFS Steve. You haven't finished a job until you have checked it.
Sure eveyone makes a mistake so the first thing I taught all my apprentices is when you have finished your work you check it before coming to see me for another job. If I went back and found they hadn't they would literally get a no 12 steel cap up their arse.

The idea I'm sure would have been to improve the suspension don't you think?
How did it feel when he rode it? Probably very similar to when I rode it at a guess.

Sometimes ya have to stack all the bits upright, hold ya tongue just right, and slap the lid on and hope for the best. Some jobs, especially ones with stacks of washers are just like that. It's easy to be all righteous when they all fall apart, and maybe he shoulda done it different. I bet he would have been horrified to pull the lid off and discover what you found.

Yeah yeah, ya take more care with bike suspension coz its bike suspension.

A little friendly, constructive advice for you Steve.
It's better to be silent and thought a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt.

    Think about it.

That advice doesn't make you look friendly or constructive at all.

    Think about it.

    I thought about it steve.
Ironic isn't it. It's just the advice you need. Don't shoot the messenger steve.
Believe me, it's a damn site friendlier than the alternative of say "look don't be a dickhead all your life steve".
