Sorry but i didnt want to start a new thread just for the sake of talking about the race last night.

    ****SPOILER****

Cairoli was like a man possessed, dominated the first moto by 20+ sec!

In the second moto it really showed just how much easier it is to ride the 350, that huge save he did when he got cross rutted up the face of the jump was just crazy! He charged hard the whole race and made up a 5sec gap twice!! to win the second moto the way he did was insane.
If a man is walking in a forest and no women is there to hear him is he still wrong?

Coppins experiences tough day in Valkenswaard.

The 3rd round of the FIM MX World championship welcomed a strong crowd to the ‘Eurocircuit’ in Valkenswaard, the Netherlands, over the weekend. Factory Aprilia racer, Josh Coppins, enjoyed the warm weather but could not take advantage of the treacherous sand conditions and his 10th place qualifying position as he lined up for moto 1 on Sunday. A first lap crash with Italian Manuel Monni left Coppins eating Dutch sand has he remounted and gave chase to the pack. The Kiwi’s efforts were short lived when he collided with a fallen rider and damaged the clutch perch of his Factory aprilia machine had to retire from the race.

In the second moto Coppins didn’t get the jump he needed and was a little tentative on the open laps trying to avoid any mishaps as in moto 1. As he settled down ‘Lizzard’ he gained a few positions as he broke into the top 10. A 9th position by the end of the 35min + 2 laps was not enough to make up for the shortfall in moto1.

“The racing is so close this year and sometimes you have to take risks but today they never paid off for me. I can’t afford not to earn points in both motos because it seems a lot of the guys are getting more consistent and having a 0 on the score card really hurts. My goal is to get back into the top 10 after Portugal and Spain and to post two consistent race results. “ vowed a determined Coppins.

Coppins will take part in round 3 of the British MX champs in Duns next weekend before heading to Portugal a week later for round 4 of the MX World champs.

Unfortunately My hopes for him are fading a bit, unless he starts riding like demon or his luck changes. I think he's pretty much screwed? Bugger I had High hopes for him on the aprilia.
On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!

'Life's Journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out! Shouting, ' Holy sh!t... What a Ride!! '

My high hopes for him are finishing the season in the top 10 and maybe a podium or 2 on the way.

I was more thinking 4th / 5th at the beginning of the season with several podiums. I'm starting to think that may be a bit optimistic. Still they've only completed 3 rounds of 15 so far.

The God of Shit Happens is visiting, 30th in the qual race and only finished 7 laps.

He was mid pack 18th, went up to 17th and then stopped? Can't find anything on why.

Coppins makes most of Portuguese MX GP.

The 4th round of the FIM Motocross world championships saw mixed weather conditions play a roll in Agueda Portugal over the weekend. Factory Aprilia racer Josh Coppins, made the most of the tricky track conditions after rainfall on Saturday threatened to turn the well groomed Agueda circuit into a quagmire.

A derailed chain forced the Kiwi out of the 20 min qualifying race on Saturday, however as mid morning sunshine dried the track on Sunday, Coppins was determined to make the most of his wide starting position. A faulty start gate had riders on edge as the first moto start was red flagged with officials doing their best to repair the problem. The restart went smoothly however ‘Lizzard’ was caught in the second half of the pack as he tried to jockey for positions. Battling to find his true race rhythm, Coppins broke into the top 20 and picked off a few positions as the clock ticked by. 17th place was the best that the Kiwi could produce in track conditions that were difficult to pass on.

With clouds clearing and track conditions drying out fast, the second moto would make for some exciting racing. ‘Lizzard’ once again had his work cut out with his wide starting gate, however he put in some aggressive opening laps and pushed through to 10th place around the halfway mark. A good battle with Belgian, Steve Ramon and Frenchman, Sebastien Pourcel would see the trio trading positions as they caught a tiring Davide Guarneri with a lap to go. Pourcel got by the Italian however Coppins ran out of time but managed to keep Ramon at bay to cross the line in 11th.

“Today was always going to be difficult from where I was placed on the start gate” explained Coppins. “The first moto was not good at all and I just couldn’t seem to get going and battled the entire moto. The second moto was much better for me and I really enjoyed the rough lines and tricky sections. I seemed to flow better and was pleased with my speed and result.”

Coppins heads to Bellpuig, Spain next weekend for round 5 in the 15 round series.

Gate position is just so important. He had some good company back there though with Nagal and Pourcel.

I hadn't read the other names that finished mid field. There are some top riders in there.
