I've long since lost any evidence of ownership of any of the following...but managed to find these photos a few years back on the net
CR 250..mate this rocked in its day....broke several ribs and my 1st concussion on it!!...
A bike that needs no introduction...out climbed several billy goats on it....
K3 XL350...Free at last! My first bike capable of some serious distance..we were to discover many things together including the stink cam chain tensioner design. But what the heck...freedom always comes at a cost!!

My current scorpion At's are a great all-round tire but they don't roost enough gravel! I am hoping some of you might like to point in the right dircetion for a good longerlasting rear knobby for my 690?
It has to be able to cut some mustard on the road as I gennerally have to cover a bit of black-top to get to the brown-top so don't want to get a tire thats too soft.
cheers
Pretty limited on options in the 140/80 18 size.
Apparently you can run 130/80's no problem, but I never have.
I have run on the rear;
Sahara 3 - 11,000km, not a bad tire, terrible in mud.
TKC 80 - about 8,000km, pretty good, first half of the tire wears out real quick.
Karoo 2 - 2nd hand one, have done about 2,000km so far, estimate you would get about 5-7000km out of one.
The karoo 2 has been my fav out of the tires so far, being the most agressive by a fair bit suits me. You can't seem to be able to get them in NZ (no one imports the 140/80 18 size), but you can buy online from the US and get them landed for about $260 nzd (assumed no import tax attached).
Don't be shy of the 130/80, they can be sharper handling than the 140. I haven't run a 140 on the 640A for a couple of years now, but I would as a mostly-road tyre (eg Scorpion A/T) for the extra contact patch and taller gearing.
Mitas E-07 is a popular all-rounder tyre, similar tread pattern to Sahara 3 but less sticky/sports compound.
Next stage chunkier, I would suggest Michelin T63 which possibly edges out the Mitas E-09 in the handling stakes. Wild price variances; I got my T63 for heaps cheaper than the E-09, others find the other way round.
Any of the above are readily available locally for a lot less than $260. The T63 did everything I asked of it for $3.39/100km. In comparison the TKC80 was $5.30/100km, did nothing better and some things worse.
Cheers,
Colin

Bollocks, get of your arse and go get it
dunlop 908RR looks very nice...i'm talking "Big Butt Ugly" nice. also has good reviews except for the cost...anyone have any idea where to get one ant the cost??
how big is the gap between the seat and the tank cause dose'nt the tank sit over the seat. Still struggle to understand the thinking behind making them so race orientated, with an engine like that all they needed to do was put it either in a 640 adventure or a 625 sxc format.if they ever do what a toy
