    Yeah but that's a 140/80x17 E09 on my motard rim. They must do a 140/80x18 E09?

    Hi Night Falcon
I am running one on my 690 - only done about 1000kms but so far so good - reasonably quiet on road with usual level of grip for this sort of tyre - off road works well particularly at 18 - 20 psi - imported mine from the states at NZ$270 delivered - have since increased shipping so now nearer $330. Am expecting it to wear well which will help to offset the cost a bit.
    Cheers

Unfortunatly the E07 is the only one that comes in 140/80-18 cause I'd have a E09 on the 950 now if they existed. 150/70-18 E-10 due out later this year. Mitchy Desert (harder compound T63) is another one but my experience is that not a great tyre for NZ. D606 comes in 120/90-18. This probably wont be too far off the 130/80-18 and may infact be bigger. Pirelli MT21 comes in 140/80-18.

I think the next tire for me to try will probably be the T63 130/80 18, mainly cause they are cheap, and most people rate them pretty well.

I would love to get my hands on a Mitchilen Baja 140/80, but they seem to not exist anymore.
I rode an XChallenge with one on a while back, and I liked the look of it, seemd to have very deep knobs compared to most tires (DS tires that is) and was a pretty firm compound.

But I thiink a set of MT90's will be more likely with all the road/gravel based riding I shall be doing this year (summer I mean, too damn cold at the moment)

    Tire Chart

Attached is copy of KTM tire recommendations for most of their product range. The 690 enduro is not listed amongst them so I assume it is the same as the 640 A.

How come the front tire is rated at 212kg (code 54) loads and the rear 290kg (Code 65)....shouldn't they be rated the same?

Thanks for that - very handy.

I'd imagine the difference in rating matches the weight bias on the bike front to rear.

Thanks for the tyre chart as well.....I use a T64 on the rear of the 640, wears as well as the TKC80 and lots cheaper, better off road grip and not quite as much confidence on road (the TKC gives more feedback on seal). Pirelli MT21 for the front.

Wot 'e said, plus the rears are physically much bigger and therefore stronger.

    Won't be long now....

I've got 2 offical KB freinds now;great. So seeing I'm so popoular heres an update of my progress....

There are lots of pictures of motorcycles on the internet....I know because I've looked at most of them over the last weee while . Not long to go now though. I plan to ease back into the saddle with some local riding then maybe do some explorining around the Wairarapa seeing its close by. Are there any adventure tour gides down that way with say...a 950 KTM that can show me the good riding action ??:scooter

Strated the 690 the other day....(hadn't done it for a while....cant bear to hear the motor running without me riding it)...thought I might have a flat battery by now, but no worries she roared into life in seconds....made my heart skip a beat.
