Dropped off the rear wheel to get the TKC fitted today. While I was at it removed the Kouba link and refittted the standard link for a bit more travel seeing a bit more agressive tire will no doubt get me into more trouble!

I have to say the TKC looks like a great tire can't wait to get her on the 690.

I have a mate who is a sign writer so am gonna get a custom desigh done for the bike and maybe helmet...dose anyone know of any cool designs I can get some ideas from??

After you have given her a few km's do not panic if the TCK appears half worn, they seem to wear the first half real quick, but then slow down from there.

Is that a MT90 beside it?

yup....its done about 3500 klm...pretty good tire but dosn't hook up to well on soft sand or real loose gravel and forget anything wet. or grassy

    690 tweaks

Thought I would share a few tweaks that have improved my 690 (for me)

14 tooth front sprocket has improved the bike off road heaps - top speed down to 140 but not an issue - KTM part #58033029014

Mapping switch on the bars - KTM Twins do a switch that picks up the three power settings and gives you access without removing the seat - 15 mins to fit and just plug and play.

Fork vents allow you to vent the forks without the need for a screwdriver and keeps the front end nice and plush.

On tyres - I have nearly come to the end of my Dunlop 908RR, it has done about 3000kms and has another 1000-1500 left. So wearing well but I won't be fitting another - price is an issue and doesn't give more kms/$ but the real issue is flexibility, the tyre is very stiff (let all the air out and it still holds the bike up!) and when nearing the end of its life handling is getting less predictable in the corners - Mich T63 next.

    Cheers
    JC

A question about the bleed valves on your forks, how often do you need to bleed them? I have not touched the shocks on my bike at all yet (other than minor adjustments/setting back to stock), just wondering what the bleeding does for you? And should I be doing it?

+1 on wanting to know this, I've never had a bike where this is a possibility/recommended before.

Are you talking about the bleed screws on top of the forks?
Just open those every time you do a service.
The manual says once a year.

525 manual recommends doing it a lot more regularly than that. If it's not done regularly on the 525 the air pressure can build up to the point the seal weep.
