'Good things come to those who wait'
Bollocks, get of your arse and go get it
Cheers Dino. Sore the prototype but not the finished product. My mode selector stopped working long time ago for some reason so haven't experienced the wild setting in ages....broken wire I suspect somewhere in the infamous KTM wiring harness.
....wherezz that track go
Just picked up aktm 690 too....awesome bike...lots of bits coming....new exhaust fmf 4 and bashplate just arrived....rack and fuel container on its way as well as small windscreen and a new seat getting upholsterd here in chch, would love to have the underseat switch mounted on the bars but that is an expensive switch so might wait a bit longer....need to change the tank bolts and replace fuel cap and see if I can do something about lowering the seat,oh kouba lowering link ordered today too. Any other mods needed will be welcome. What oil is everyone using now...?
No worries...when is your next ride ?....you free for edwards amd malings pass on nov 9th ?
I thought about these awhile back. As the standard mode, smooths out the power and is less abrupt than the advanced mode but advanced mode is snappier... but I don't know if switching is the answer (don't you have to turn off the bike to load the different map?...ie it's not done while riding, which to me, defeats the purpose...anyway
Lately, I've been riding more and more with the advanced mode and like the power but also wanted to manage the off-idle sharpness...so instead of going for the mapping switch. I just bought the G2 throttle tamer with the 400cam (2 days ago). What this does is give the smoothness over the throttle during the first stages of opening, which in reality is the only time the difference in maps actually matters....so the cam means that bumps and knocks at the lower rev's are far better to control...yet all the power and response is there.
So far, I would say that it works as I expected...
...back in the saddle, and getting a little!
Is that a mechanical or elcrtro gizmo?....easy to fit?
easy as to fit, and its all mechanical...it's just replacing the throttle tube on your handlebar with a unit that has a different profile. Basically, the standard throttle tube the pulls the cables is a standard circular tube ie 1:1 ratio. The throttle tamer has a flatish section for the first part, and then progressively goes back to standard.
heres a picture from the web (hopefully), if not search in the G2 Throttle tamer. I went for the tamer kit, instead of just the throttle tube, as it comes with different profiles...so if the 400 unit was to soft, I had 300, 200 to select...plus there was always the option of going back to standard throttle at effecitvely 100

...back in the saddle, and getting a little!
That looks good and half the price of the electrical switch...I like the no 1 setting for off road as I.m not that competent off road to use all the power..... no 2 is good for highway riding and using no 3 at the moment but that Iis a bit jerky for around too at low rpms....might be better once i fit the new fmf power exhaust and re mapped....so who usues 10/50 oil or 10/ 60 as per manufacturer?...and where is cheapest to buy the oil in chch and get the ktm filters from?...thinking the filters will be cheapest on line I suppose...
Yup...same oil 10w-60, it's recommeded for a reason and its more than just the 10w-60 rating (something to do with the silver nitrate coatings on the bearings or something like that)
I personally haven't waited to 5000k's as I start to worry....4K is my mental limit, and more often if I feel that I have abused the engine and clutch

filters don't cost much - I get pretty good deals from KTM dealers in the NI so have never gone elsewhere. Someone told me once 10w50 was more for colder climates but I don't really know. AFC's mechanic was pretty adamant on the 60 when I asked about it though. He seemed to know what he was talking about and is pretty experienced working on orange bikes.
abusing 60hp trail bikes can be painful....as you well know![]()
....wherezz that track go
Yeah read up on the oil specs sonwill use the 10w-60.....will use dealer filters as I.ve heard the prices are ok....
