Hummm something sounds a little suspect a remap should make it run better and they are dead easy to do if you know what your doing. Assuming the OEM muffler has been replaced and both acro maps installed (there are 2 apparently) and the 15min reset has been done there should be no problem. Has anything else been done on the bike i.e. air filter changed, engine de-smogged?

If the engine was working fine prior to the remap with the stock muffler replaced and not afterwards then my money is on an incorrectly installed or incorrect map - it happens. Anyone with the right software and correct maps and who knows what they're doing can remap a 690...lots have. Good luck getting it sorted.

Yeah...it has a foam filter instead of the paper filter but kept the snorkel and just changed the exhaust....so they remap it with the akro and its no good....I take it back and a day later get a call from the shop asking what I wanted doing-...told them I needed the original map put back in as it was running fine before the remap. -pick it up and its still running crap. Pop back in straight to the mechanic who said he did,nt do it so and so did and I,m sure he would have put both maps in...?.....I said I,d bring it back again but could,nt be arsed dealing with guy in the shop again so will try somewhere else....so who knows a good remap man ?

I'm sticking with incorrect map install based on this:

Because of the setup with two ECUs the 'mapping' or 'fuel map' for a 690 also consists of two parts/files. A map (file) for the fuelling: ....FIMap.hex and a file for the throttle: ....EPMap.hex. This has led to problems and confusion with both dealers and owners. The two parts of a fuel map belong together and are NOT interchangeable with other fuel maps. When updating or changing the fuel map it is critical that both files are downloaded to the bikes' ECUs.

    · EPT map: Determines the amount of throttle body opening relative to handlebar throttle input. Adjustment of this fly-by-wire throttle permits dramatic changes in response of the engine to throttle input. This system is what causes a lot of the twitchiness in the throttle.
    · FI map: Determines the amount of fuel delivered depending on engine load, RPM and throttle body input. This map may utilize the oxygen sensor or the SAI (secondary air intake) but these can be selected OFF.

You could try the 15min idle reset which has to be done when remapping. Start the bike from cold and leave it to idle for 15mins -DO NOT TOUCH THE THROTTLE AT ALL or you have to start again - could be this simple?

get the cable ( or make it like i did ) and download the tuneecu programme and hook it up .
the good thing is you can see what maps you have and check and adjust tps etp , test injector and so on,also check what the dealer has fucked up.
adv has a good thread on tuneecu with all you need to know.
i have played with mine quite bit and my 690 runs like a champ with no jerky throttle or hanging idle and now fuels just like my 450
and if you stuff things up,you just reload the standard map or you're a few clicks of the mouse from fixing it and also
you get a better understanding of how things work

    Battery in good condition?
On some Triumph's, we had problems doing dyno runs/re-mapping until a battery booster was added. Even though there was enough juice to start the bike.

Yup this is correct, the battery has to be fully charged or the download won't work. If the charge drops during the download it will also fail. The dealer should know this and check the battery which would be standard operating procedure for someone who allegedly knows what they are doing?

    Keep the stock mapping

Have a look at the link below - it explains things in a reasonably understandable way. On my second 690 and all the advice I have been given is run the stock map - I have a Leo Vince muffler and Unifilter foam air filter and the stock mapping has been good on both bikes. Advice I have been given is ensure that there is a reasonable amount of back pressure - wadding or a baffle disc - as the engine needs back pressure to ensure that it doesn't run too lean.
Hope you get it sorted Kenny
    Cheers
    John

I can confrim the stock maps work fine with aftermarket exhaust. I have the leo vince and stock maps and have had no problems.

bizarre is all I can say? So many people have remapped with zero problems with every conceivable muffler fitted. My FMF powercore 4 had no issues and ran a lot better after the remap, smoother throttle response but did gulp slightly more fuel. why would ktm make and fit alternative maps if they don't meet their specifications for back pressure? it doesn't seem plausible. I'm sure you'll get it sorted though, persistence always pays off in the end.

    MY Next Adv Bike???

Am looking at all options for my next bike and am very curious about the Husky TR650 Terra (mainly because the price is quite appealing) but don't know much about them. Can anybody out there give me some feedback on it - good, bad or indifferent?

I understand the fuel range is in the vicinity of 300-320k's, is this correct?

    What's the power delivery like?

    DIY servicing - valve checks?

How comfy is the seat? Prefer it didn't have the cutaway but that can be fixed with a seat concepts.

Suspension seems to be and issue, mainly with the front forks which are non adjustable and quite soft?

I had a look at them, the dealer swore by it...
BUT, missing some of the esssential elements...
For a entry level dual purpose, awesome....
For someone coming off a 690 (literally and figuratively) I think you would be disappointed...
Make up your own mind mate, there is a choice out there...
Something about them makes me fell like they are trying but not quite there..
    TE610 was the best....

For someone coming off a 690 (literally and figuratively) LOL....thanks for that mate, I just spilt my coffee over me laptop

Cheers - If it gets past the initial screening I might have to get a trusted merkin test pilot to take one for a pre-purchase ride report as I wont be riding anything bigger than my trials bike for a while yet; the problem is I've seen so many cool bikes I thought would be great but they all sold while I was procrastinating....I've got cabin fever pretty bad at the moment.

Am thinking due to my crash souvenirs it might be wise to look at a slightly more sedate bike? - was even considering a KLR a while back but realise now that was down to the head knock
